Now Waylander, I will tell you once and only once.

Australia and New Zealand are NOT the same country.
To even suggest that is so damn insulting to all us New Zealanders.

There is a huge ditch in between...
The Australians were sent there, cause they were convicts - you know criminals.
New Zealand became from people immirgrating here.

You know there are some southern Americans who never accepted that the confederates lost the war between the North and the south - of America.

Its these folks that will die believeing that they are not 'yanks'.

Well the fact of the matter is that you are all 'yanks' (americans).

So its time to get over it...

I also have a friend (female) from the southern area and Baptist to boot....
and I have her on all the time about being a 'yank'

Its amazing how fast you lot can be wound up...

Oh and Waylander, its time for you stop this, cos you are getting your NZ residency soon, then your citizenship...

Trust me Crashe, it would be easier for every NZer to stop calling me yank than for me to get used to it.

And as far as citizenship goes...Not for a good many years to come.

I thought the true Yankees were from New England ?

Texans can't be Yankees, because on 1776 Texas was part of the domains of His Most Catholic Majesty .

Part of the ViceRoyalty of New spain. Independant in 1836

Below, the original flag of Texas (before independance),the Lone star flag adopted in 1839 and the original flag of the Republic of Texas.

Remember to never split an infinitive. The passive voice should never be used. Do not put statements in the negative form. Proofread carefully to see if you words out. And don't start a sentence with a conjugation. (William Safire)

I have a special T-shirt for Americans I got in Vienna that reads "There are no kangeroos in Austria". Apparently there is some confusion about this among the Yank tourists.

on the other hand, you can try stop defending an ex-homeland and become a kiwi.

I don't bother mentioning how great south africa is yadda yadda (OK, well there isn't much great anyway) because I am a kiwi now. The way I see it, if anybody wants to bleat about how great their ex-homeland is, then why are you still here??

My mum overheard some south africans in the south african shop talking in afrikaans about how homesick they are... simple: GO BACK.

on another note, if americans can get so riled up about an internal division, then no wonder some countries hate them...

Only by association. I'm on a far higher level than they are.
