    Maungatapu...

    ......Is closed.
    Well it was this morning!
    So we trickled around the sounds seeing french pass and bulwer.....some nice riding out there!
    Altimarloch tomoro....unless thats closed too??
    I'm no gynaecologist, however I would be happy to take a look......................

    It's been closed for years, you just go around (or under) the closed bit. For a cockie your a bit slow, mate!

    The hole road at the dam was closed to traffic for some improvements.
    No loss tho......

    That's been like that for a long time DJ. You can only access it now thru the Hira forest, however only generally at weekends & you really need a guide to get to the caretakers hut. if you want a guide we could prob lead you over this weekend.

    Well now iian, thats wear we differ.....you c, as a landowner myself i understand the mechanics of land acess/denial etc and have the utmost respect for"road closed/keep out/private road". Therefore those are not places i will tresspass. No signs or no locks and i am in like flynn!!!

    Thanks for the fine offer padders but neil and i r in blenheim now....havin poked up altimarloch today. Orf to do clarence river tomoro then bak here ready for a cruise ovaseas sunday mornin.
    Its all good.....the south has bin good to us!!

    Yep....wee but windy but clear n fine- could c 4 miles........even c the norf from up there.
    I'm no gynaecologist, however I would be happy to take a look......................

    we went down the bach in the hols at Port Underwood. I went for a ride up & across to see how far north I could get -hoping to get to the edge of Tory channel as there is am access road to the last baches. Unfortunately the track turned too steep for me on my own but the North island was so bloody close I reckon I could have swum it.

    Tory is a good ride... Last time I was out there
    the track had a bit of gorse starting to cover it
    towards the end...

    Don't get your udders in a tangle Jamie, last time I was there and it was closed I approached the owner (Council) and got permision to cross, since then it has been generally open to bikes. I also have respect for private property... you owe me a beer!

    The track is in pretty good condition bar the fist sized rocks scattered everywhere.
    Some growth starting to creep in from the sides.

    Basically looks like there's been no work done on it for the last 12 months.

    Still some sections where there's orange tape poking up through the middle of the track.
