Need help with a TTR50

Hi, just new to here.
My 6 year old son has recently got a 2006 ttr50. So far, so good but with learning he has had a few falls. We he falls off the bike it will sometimes start 'missing' when he get going again, smokes a bit and will eventually stall and be hard to start. Today he tried restarting it himself and drained the battery and most probably flooded it. We couldn't get it going again, not even by crash starting it. Now we have the battery out and will give it charge and see what happens. Anyway, I am wanting to know how best to start it up and stop it stalling after he comes off (I am sure there will be more spills to come!). I have never done any work on a bike, do I need to take it too a shop to get air filters and that cleaned out or what......any adive would be great. Thanks.

Tell him to stop falling off, He is probably flooding it when it goes over. Teach him the proper way to start a flooded bike.

Yeah I have told him that already, quite a few times. Not got the message yet.
How do you start a flooded bike? This is electric start.

You might want to check the air filter. Not sure about how the Yams are plumbed, but the Honda CRF50s have a crankcase breather which can let engine oil into the airbox when they fall over. This will result in a bit of smoke. If there's oil dripping from the airbox that'll be clue #1...

'Course, it could just be that the air filter's blocked by something else, or maybe the something else has blocked the oil drain hole in the airbox (if applicable) so the oil has little choice but to go into the cylinder. Those little bikes suck all kinds of crud into the airbox you wouldn't believe, with the intake being next to the wheels and also so close to the ground.

Assuming regular air-filter cleaning has happened? Smoke is also a too-much fuel thing, which could be a blocked air filter.

Good luck with that. A little dude with a bike he can't ride is usually unhappy with the bike.

When was the last time it had a service? give it a service new oil,plug clean the air filter etc. The battery's don't last forever and are costly as they're a sealed jell design.
