Unhappy Selling an S83 Boulevard on behalf. Why won't it sell? Asking too much?

Hi guys, we are selling this S83 on behalf (owners gone to oz) and it has been on Trademe for rather a long time so thought this might be a good place to maybe get an idea why.

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=496114262

It is a really tidy bike, not overly high mileage, it has a cracked rear indicator but apart from that there is nothing wrong with it!
The father in-law paid over 11K for it a few years back and and it didn't get used an awful lot since so obviously had high hopes it hadn't depreciated too much in that time.
It was priced too high initially compared to others but he dropped the price from $8500 to what he thought was a realistic (compared to others at the time) $7200 hoping to not have to drop below 7K but just don't get stuff all inquiries which is the frustrating part. If it was still the price being too high, would have thought we could expect a few cheeky offers at least like you normally get on TM.

Just checked TM now and they are ranging from 6K-10K so it is at the lower end of the scale. Obviously these are asking prices not selling prices but still....
I know people are not spening money on bikes and toys in general like they used these days, but what gives?!

So what do you guys (the experts! ) reckon? Price? Location? People don't like S83s?????? The only thing I am wondering about is if it has been on TM too long and gone stale...people think there must be something wrong with it?
Any advise would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance... cheers

Being the middle of winter won't be helping much.

im not sure why but bikes with their odos in miles always put me off, dunno why. dont suppose you can do much about that though

ultimately price is king IMO, but as hitcher said that sort of bike tends to be a summer cruiser and its the middle of a cold and rainy winter.

Not wanting to cause offence here but it's an un-spectacular bike at an un-spectacular price at an un-spectacular time of the year. There are similar bikes with similar mileage at similar prices in dealerships. If you want to sell it I'd suggest maybe reconsider the asking price or put it up as an auction & let the market decide.

There are fuck all bikes moving off TardMe at the moment, even spectacular ones aren't seeming to sell quick. There are also some absolute bloody bargains out there, however I haven't personally spent a lot of time looking at the S83 market.

    Good luck.

Edit; PM Nodrog, he loves his Boulevards.

    Thanks guys.

Madness, no offence taken. I just bought my first bike (dirt) but have no experience with road bikes hence coming here to see get some worthy opinions.

LJK, at the end of the day we obviously havn't met the market but it's not my bike so
$1 reserve gets you the best price possible with an item that is in demand but could be a big mistake with an "un-spectacular bike at an un-spectacular price at an un-spectacular time of the year"!!

I reckon $6k is still an ask privately Pete.

Meh, what would I know. I can't even get icecubes out of a tray.

Possibly. But it looks more attractive compared to the others for sale than 7!

Still comes down to buyers with readys I 'spose. I am still having nightmares about the ridiculously low price I just sold the Beemer for.
