You know why I'm asking! - Hot pools and camping :-)
Had 2 days camping/tramping in the tararuas last week and got a taste for roughing it now!
Hmmm....another bald tyre challenge is it? I've got a half worn death wing in the shed just waiting to be shredded.

I'm up for the camping thing. Camp cooker and a tin of beans sounds like me....if the weather co-operates. Shouldn't be a problem based on the weather we've had lately.

We'll be crossing the river and coming out River Road to Taihape Road (intersection with Glenross Road) on Sunday morning. You could go down River Road and meet at the river (public access through farm land). Unsure of time at this stage, but we'll probably get away earlyish, so 9.00 at the river?

You know it's not good when a rear Karoo and a mich t63 front both struggle to get a warrant...

By the way where is the southern meet up point this year to start the ride? That gas station near the manawatu gorge?

Last time we had a couple of meeting points and it got a little confusing. Because the Makairo is out, we'll meet in Dannevirke. Either my place or just up the road at the BP, south end of town.

You should come along Paul, I'm a 90% certainty for this ride, although I'll probably miss out the knarly farm bits as it will be the start of a week away for me, so I'll be loaded up with all my camping gear unless I decide to head to the south island after the RRRRR.

    OK, who's in....

Keeping with tradition, this'll be totally different to previous RRRR's. I like to mix things up a bit each year, but keep within the brief of doing a lap of the Ruahines.

We're doing the beach section and some awesome farmland that Wade's sorted out. Stuff you'd never usually get to access.

It sound's like camping is the go. There aren't many creature comforts at the hot springs, but bring your togs and a tent. Free camping at it's best.

Softies can stay about an hour away in Napier. We're looking at meeting up with a few on the Sunday morning. We might head up a few side roads off the Gentle Annie and take the interesting route to Taihape (Shitbag track anyone?). South to Apiti and take a look up Takapari.

    Should be 2 banana awesome.

    Sounds frikkin' awesome!
    2 banana's !! I'm there...

Just to try and be a tiny bit organised, anyone heading up from Wellington or kapiti coast wanna meet up on the ride to dannevegas? A bit early maybe, but it's been 3 years since my last RRRR and I can't wait!

Plenty of rain here at the moment. Thunder and lightening and pissing down. It's seems a bit unusual after the big dry.

I'm glad though because it'll wash away some of the dust.

Threw on a half worn Perelli MT60 yesterday. Cleaned the air filter. All set...

    Luckily some sun as well!

Had a look at the doc link you posted, Bart. Looks like a great spot, might have to throw a line in the luggage as well, see if I can't get a trout for tea. Based on recent fishing trips I would say chances are slim!

You gotta stop buying those cheap arse tyres dude. If the brand name is misspelt then you know it won't be much good! Unless you ride a hongda I suppose...

I did the air filter yesterday and repacked the muffler, there was bugger all of any use left in there and I was starting to get a headache after 7kms of riding to work! Big difference now- takes almost 12kms

I decided to leave my 1/2 worn tyres on (who am I kidding- more like 4/5ths) and I'm considering an oil change, just considering at this stage...

Hey, that's one of the better tyres I have laying around. I do also have a brand new $10 CST I could've put on. They go well on my Suziki.
