Question Any Kber's in the UK London area with a spare bike or one they wouldn't mind lending?

Hi and thank you if you have opened this message.

It has been a long time since I have been on here but I am going back to the UK for one of my brothers wedding and both my brothers want to go for a couple of days away on a ride together.

Last time I went back my youngest brother had a good friend that leant him a bike so I could use my brothers one. Regrettably that friend no longer has a bike. So I thought I would try my luck on here to see if there were any of you out there that might remember me or not (I can get references) that would be able to hook me up with a bike for about three days in April

I appreciate it's a long shot but thought there was no harm in asking. I would obviously be more than happy to return the favor should you ever come to or come back to Wellington.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message

    Ride safe wherever you are.

Depending on how ambitious you are, I have an ST1100 in Newcastle upon Tyne sitting in a mate's garage. I would need to meet you first and have $3000 in hand to hold onto until the bike gets back in the same shape it left in. Give me a shout if you want.

Being from Newcastle myself, I am going Back in July and I have been trying to source a sports bike for maybe 3 days whilst I am there. I was hoping to get a few days away in Scotland or maybe through the tunnel to the Nurburgring. I shall be following this thread for any ideas....

Thanks Heaps for the offer but I think Newcastle will be just a little to far to pop and get a bike for a couple of days. I do really appreciate the offer though, thank you.

Don't you worry I'll be checking out some Newkie Brown stuff all right when I get back but not so sure I want the snow!! If you could get rid of that and replace it with Sun before I get there I'd appreciate it

Far and away, your biggest hassle will be insuring it.

Yeah, last time my brother just put me on his and he rode his mates bike. I don't know if the family thing made a difference. I still have my UK driving license so I am not trying to do it as a Kiwi.

It's great here in NZ for this sort of thing as no insurance is required, standard rules, you bend it you own it!! Although if it was a complete stranger you would probably want it and some money up front.

My Bro thinks he may have sourced a bike from another friend but if I can find a back up through the great kiwibiker group it would certainly be handy.

They don't fuck about in the UK; uninsured vehicles generally get crushed. They've got ANPR everywhere and it flags up uninsured vehicles very quickly.

Ever been hit by an uninsured driver over here? I have....It's not great.

And the car(s) you hit. They're not all running about in 15 year old jappers over there. There's no ACC too...so you're looking at consequential losses. You'll be paying for their medical bills, loss of earnings, loss of enjoyment, legal fees. Mounts up really quickly.

Your brother putting you on his insurance is probably your best bet TBH.
