    eep?

Out for a sunday ride on my little fxr. feelin happy as the bikes all freshly oiled and fillled up. smooth vrrrrrm *click* through the gears until i went to change into 6th where it was more of a vrrrrm *clunk* jingle jingle rattle grind, then finally, *click* into gear.

in my 3 or so weeks of riding it this hasnt happened before, but it did 3 times today. im just beginning to get my head around the whole riding part of bikes, so the mechanical side is still a little beyond me.

im guessing this isnt normal, so is it something i should have checked out asap?

    Don't sound too good.

Could just be that your chain needs lubing and adjusting, this is a common cause of missed gears. Could be something more sinister like a selection fault.

Have you adjusted the chain in your three weeks of riding?

cheers White Trash, the chains oiled nicely but it could do with a bit of a tighten. i'll get on that when i get back from work.
probably worth mentioning is that it only happens when i change into 6th. it didnt happen all the time but more than enough to get me worrying.

Whats not normal for a bike is 6 gears!!
But I concur woth the knowledgeable ones, go for the chain first and yes when i had a chain bike after a week of use I would be looking at the chain they do wear
