    RF900: A Questions

Hey guys just checking a few things...got a rf900 and it runs good but all over the internet it says its max hp and KW is at 10k and 9k, It seems mine has all the grunt at 6,000 and a red line at about 10k revs? Still is extremely fast, any ideas why this might be?

Google a hp and torque dyno chart for the bike.

It will show max hp at near readline and torque a bit lower but will also probably show darn near the same torque at that 6k mark.

Off top of my head they were good for 125 or something horses, again at near redline but that same chart will show very good hp several thousands of rpm lower ie the engine may be making 95 hp at 7,000 - good power.

On the road that total max hp is irrelevant as you are never riding it to the maximum constantly (OK some KBer will claim too....) when you are out for a fast ride how often do you touch redline?

If I was being honest you could shove me on a 200hp new BMW and a better rider will thrash the shit out of me on a 140hp 10 year old sport bike. But as this is KB I'd state that the OE tyres on the BMW were shit and proclaim that if I'd changed them out to XXX brand I'd have won. Or I could claim my penis slipped out of my tro and blocked the air intake thus reducing the BMW to 80hp. I'd then post a picture of said penis clearly pointing out the reversed BMW logo imbedded into my foreskin.

Just check the tyre pressure, adjust and oil the chain and enjoy the bike.

Max horsepower will be at or near red line. Horsepower does not increase at the same ratio through the rev range. As it passes through the upper revs ... the amount of horsepower being developed drops off per 1000 RPM. Increasing in HP as the revs climb ... but fewer per 1000 RPM as it does.

Torque however ... is a whole different ball game.

Torque and horsepower are often confused ... and/or the difference not understood.

The RF900's were always under rated by most that have not owned or ridden one. Not enough "flash" and "bling" I guess ..

How does it have a max hp and kw difference?
Are we meaning the non-restricted one? (135hp if memory serves, Drew would know, the poof )

I really don't understand the question.
