    Ka-ching! got me

The cops are out in force in Wellytown tonite, and they collected some revenue from me. I rode in from the Kapiti Coast to attend the presentation on the Silkriders trip by Brendon at Sawyers/Motorad. Came off the motorway and down Aotea Quay and stopped at the lights by the stadium. Filtered to the front (as you do) and when the lights go green just grabbed a handfull thru 1st,2nd, buttoned off in 3rd , you know, just to put a gap back to the cars behind, dropped it into 4th to putter along into town and there in the middle of the empty road in front of me is a uniformed gent waving me over. got me with a hand-held at 67, must have been the peak before I buttoned off. Thought it used to be a 70 area along there anyway, probably before they built the stadium, the 70 signs are further back now. (Ok, I havnt lived there for 20 years, they prolly moved them yonks ago, but its hardly a quiet suburban street). My first ticket on a bike, and I was hardly doing anything outragous. Grumble. Bloody revenue collecting that one.

Then on the way home just out of Plimmerton the whole of SH1 was being diverted thru the weigh station. Compulsory breath testing. 30-40 cops (possibly from the nearby Police college I hope) standing around checking me and a couple of other cars. Yes Officer, I am having a good evening, I know my wof is valid, and yes I do know my rego runs out in 2 weeks time - I will pay it when its due, thank you.
And between there and home saw a mufti car pull someone up, and 3 other patrol cars lurking on the roadside. Does their overtime have to be self funding I wonder?

Sorry to hear your pocket has been lightened. Revenue collecting alright.

We were worried by all the flashing red lights outside Motorad while Brendan was giving his talk - thought the bloody car was being towed away!

We didn't notice any cops on the way down from Levin at about 2.30pm, but we did get pulled over for the compulsory breath test on the way home - no worries for us, my husband doesn't drink! The cops looked bored shitless and not a single one smiled - perhaps they hadn't caught many over the limit?

My pocket was lightened by several hundred dollars while in Wellington though - thanks to a particularly nice Shoei helmet being on special in Wellington Motorcycles! About time I spoilt myself!

When we came out of town last night around 5.45pm we saw the cops with the laser stopping in-coming vehicles. They'd pinged one and four cops walked out and blocked the lanes going into town....I did think that was a bit of overkill as it brought all the traffic coming into town to a halt while the one who was pinged got shepherded off towards the ferry off-lane.

Sorry to hear that Sels1. I don't often travel that road coming into town, but the odd time I do, I generally have to do 70 to keep up with the traffic.

Me to....my bike was parked on the pavement as it was during Clearway time when I arrived.
Where were you standing? I was with the other KBers (Hitcher,F5Dave etc) near the bar (of course) Shame I missed you. I was at WMCC earlier too

I wasn't sure if you were there - you should have recognised me and the other half from our 'photo'! I was wearing a bright red jacket and sat just in front of where Brendan was standing - next to someone called Glen I think - and along from Merv. I met Hitcher.

Were you wearing black leathers and (from memory) have you got a moustache? There was another rider in WMC while I was buying my helmet (which I am about to go out and test!).

Ah bum... Bad luck.. Thats a fave spot for lurking (both ways) so always be cautious around the stadium...

But LB is right... Most days you have to be doing 70 to avoid being run down!

Dude, I think you were born 20 years after you should have been. I've never seen someone so young with such an 80's fixation...

You rock! (Huey Lewis kinda rock, too)

About time you bastards started to realise that highly excessive speed will mean you will kill someone one day!

On a lighter note, I didn't notice any cops at all on either my trip into town or out again (avg mway speed roughly twice what I care to admit to ) last night for an indoor netball game.
