Now that is a good idea.
More observations:
The much narrower 21" front tyre loves tram-lining. Not a problem, it is just very obvious.
The temperature gauge consistently reads about 10 degrees too high. I'll raise that at the first service.
Seriously the horn is the most pathetic thing ever found on a motorcycle! On my evening commute home yesterday a "sub standard" cager in a 90s vintage corolla decided that my lane was where he should be. Problems were that, firstly he didn't look, and secondly that his hearing was not at all impaired. I doubt if he even heard the horn as the look of surprise when he detected me taking avoiding actions was in hind sight the first time that he worked out that I was there (and which he just continued with his lane change). Stebel anyone?

I had it in rain mode which limits it to about 100 ponies, smooths the throttle response, and full TC.
Giving it a bit of gas coming out of corners, not too much though as the inner nanna (who didn't want to drop the new bike), anyway it just takes off, no dramas, or even obvious intervention by the traction control. The front end feel on the conti attack tyres was planted which surprised me over the slippery dirt / no gravel patches.

hey,
just watched the video of the guy and the R6...and it really showed the power of 1190. I thought my 690 was quick for a 'dirt bike' but that 1190 is a superbike with 21" and knobblies.
What is your topspeed to date?
...back in the saddle, and getting a little!
Link for the vid?
Still running it in, but what I can say is that the quoted 150 ggs is not an exageration like on many bikes. There is a youtube of an after market zorst manufacturer that had one on a dyno and it was making (as much as dyno's can be relied on) geniune power at the rear wheel not far off 150. I'll have a look for it later and post the link.
I'm not a top speed sort of person. There as a couple of vids of a nutter quickly acclerating to an indicated 270 and then slowing down because he ran out of road. True speed for him was probably around 250 as the speedos read high on purpose from KTM.

As for the speedo's, they do seem a bit out...however, they should be adjustable to make them accurate. Not sure what the process is/will be on the 1190, but for the 690 there was a wire to disconnect (bypass dealer function) which then enabled the speedo to have an extra mode, where you could access the wheel length variable eg 2107mm..this just involved marking a spot on the ground, and then rolling the bike one revolution to another spot...measure the distance and enter that in to the speedo and then have millimetre accuracy. I used to change between 17" and 21"...so had to change it regulary. (have binned the 17" now...too much of hassle)

Some weird-ness.
I've got no chicken strips on the front and narrow ones on the rear. I've never seen a bike / tyre that does that before.

Also got the KTM skid plate and fitted that tonight. The screws for attaching the plate are counter sunk Allen key and are made out of the same soft plastic as Lego. FFS to even get them marginally tight the key was munting the screw. I'll go get some decent stainless and Locktite those in.
Edit: heated grips later this week.
