    Fuel Prices to double.

This sucks. I've just heard from a manager at the local BP outlet that BP NZ have predicted the fuel prices will double by christmas this year.
Yep, $3 a litre by the end of the year!

Maybe those 150cc bikes aren't such a bad thing!!!

I hear they are well suited for long distance riding. Two did last years Coast to Coast in a very stately manner.

What puzzles me is that while 96 and 91 have gone up like 30 cents this year. The race fuel I use for my RS has stayed at $1.75 since the start of this year. So do they have a way bigger profit margin on that? Or are they just reaming us and inflating the prices unnecessarily.

    OK

Just been studying economics for the past year and learning about opportunity costs etc....

What's gonna happen when people can't afford petrol anymore and they need their vehicles...

Example: Mother of 2 has limited money. Child one goes to school, child 2 goes to child care. Mother wants to improve monetry situation by getting learned up.... to do this Mother studys during time children go school/childcare. To do this, children need to be dropped off by car...buses aren't an option due to locations of everything.
If mother can't afford petrol, mother will not be able to get both children and herself to anywhere on time. Extra childcare for both children is not an option either.

and this is only one example. What about those who live not only far away from their workplaces, but in different trainlines/bus routes.

What are the government going to do about the loss of jobs and children going to school? Some buses need to run on desiel, are bus tickets going to increase too?

BTW...I know I'm a bit slow at the moment....but why, exactly, are the petrol prices rising? Is NZ's dollar not worth much? Is their not enough petrol to go around? Is someone just being greedy?

Bring on the Minority Report cars I say....

    Arrow Its interesting though.

I watched a doco on Discovery. They stated that there IS NOT a oil crisis at all. Back when the petrol prices where very low (cant remember what year) and the market was flooded the production compainies decided to restrict oil production to raise the price. This has continued to present day, yet they are making the excuse of lack of oil. However the doco stated that this was not the case and at any time production could be increased, however this was unlikely as it would also cause the prices to drop. I for one will be riding my mountian bike much more should the stiuation continue to worsen without reasonable cause
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
