I have very fond memories of that bike. In particular riding round the outside of someone on a CB750F on one of our all in races roudn Martinborough (chorus of "Oh Aye, them were the days" please).

In fact so much so that I have resisted owning or riding another as I dont want to sully the memory of how good it was (and by extension how good I thought I was....).

but yeah, you should totally get one.
The 500 was good, but never really enjoyed mine like I did the twins I had (350LC and TZR). My TZ's have always given me wood (250/350/750!)

I almost forgot about this thread! I snatched up the RD250E while I had the chance, got it for a decent price and I knew I'd be kicking myself if I let it go. Spent the last month or so diagnosing it's problems and rebuilding the top end, painting the engine etc... Putting the thing back together over the next weekend or two, then I have to replace the swinging arm bushings, tune up the carbs and off to the compliance centre it goes My god the amount of smoke it blows after not being on the road for 25 years (last time it was reg'd and warranted was in 1988)! Probably going to put lower bars on it and bar end mirrors, but that'll be a bit later down the track. Here's a pic of the old thing without a top end or tank in all its glory
