The Suzuki 750 something rider was probably passed recently by a faster bike (like an FJ1200 ) and was just getting his own back. Such things happen on the road. OFTEN. Get over it and get on with it.

If you always check your mirrors without moving your head ... you will miss stuff. Try regular checks of the mirrors .. including your blind spots. Not constant checking (as you found .. it achieves little). Whats in front is more important.

If I'm behind a car (or line of cars) and a bike comes along when I'm choosing not to overtake I just move over and let them do their thing. I'm quite happy to wait for the passing lane 1km down the road instead of squeezing down the centre and then pulling into the cars braking space...and repeat down the line.
I understand where you're coming from. It hasn't happened to me often, bikers like that, but it has happened. I get a bit grumpy but regress because my bike is slower so just back off or pull over, whatever, let them do their own thing. I'm like you, I do check my mirrors frequently and I know what you mean about them coming up out of nowhere and it's not because we're not looking! They are clearly speeding and literally come up out of nowhere, gives you a fright sometimes. I'm just too slow, not me, my bike, just let them go, you'll probably be the prick one day doing the same thing And yup, people do pick on GN's. But I love my bike and I love my "Loser" plate.

Like those two Busas yesterday? on two occassions?...one cut in pretty close to me but I wasn't that bothered by it.
On our first learner ride, one of our group was under and over taken at the same time on a left hander by two cock smokers. Had I known this at the time, I would have stopped and spoken to the idiots at Wellsford (they were at the servo) but I wasn't told about till after the ride.

How would you check your mirrors without moving your head anyway? Or maybe it's just my bike.

Oh yes that's right, happened a fair few times. Guess we were going tooooo slow... I let a few cars pass me and bikers too so the people behind me could catch up/see me without a car being in the way.

Just move your eyes .. it is in how you set up your bike controls for yourself. (this includes mirrors)

Try a practice ride with and without moving your head as you check your mirrors. Even try it as you are stopped. Put something (motorcycle width ... or another motorcycle) directly behind you, and see how far in front of it you have to be to see it. or indeed ... if you can see it at all.

Sorry didn't realize your a noob.

Wait till you've got some km's under your belt and a good handling of how to ride a motorbike before commenting on other riders.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Might pay the older riders to learn to read then He posted a series of questions initially the lack of experience clear and expressed how he felt, then the "experts" commenced their attacks which he defended and has now been taken as comments on other riders. What was it Shakespeare said about protesting too much? perhaps some of these experts feel under attack due to their guilt?

Really? Didn't realise someone in the Newbie biker section...

It sounds like cockish behaviour to me. But then Motorbikes seems to bring that out in people.

Blazing up behind someone on a windy section of road, and passing them with the barest gaps (this is my take on what happened approximately) sounds like a dangerous bastard of a thing to do. Also sounds like someone who probably couldn't stop if anything unexpected turned up on the other side of the road. I don't see why my day should be ruined because some idiot has a death wish?

I sit far forward on my bike cause it's comfortable so I always have to move my head to look in my mirrors.
