You're on the money.
I'd say a cheap bike is faster through traffic than an expensive one. GNs are very narrow. And cheap. Hence why they are faster than lots of bigger bikes.
A lot bikes pause when lane-splitting that I just fly through.
One day when I grow up I'll look back fondly on my trusty GN.
Probably about now someone will chip in with a bit of GN-bashing.....

I think it's just the geometry and light as steering at low speeds that aids it, and the ease of curb hopping...
My Spada was far, far better through town than the GN, better handling at low speeds and double the power.
The GN600 should be ideal in town, but I reckon ya can't get better than a grunty motard for fun in town![]()
