Simon, get some Motomuck (from any good bike shop) decant into a spray bottle, spray every part on your bike, wait 10 minutes and wash off with a hose, your bike will love you for it.
If you missed any spot, repeat step one.

All sorted....a clear mind. No, Oh shit I'm gonna be late (again) for work(and I'm barely out of bed and awake), or I'm really tired and I'm ready for bed. Time to diagnose and fix bike.

Turned ignition on. Bike in neutral. Turned on kill switch "Chec" displayed on dash, turn it off, check condition clears. Kill switch ok.
Went to clutch, removed rubber boot, followed wire along bar, found disconnected connecter. Plugged in. Pulled in clutch, press start, She Lives!! It looks a daft place to fit the connector and it's really easy to disconnect it. Will fix that later.

Sadly doesn't need a new battery 18 months from new
