Small wind deflectors taking the full force off your chest can make a significant improvement. On the other hand, get the height of it wrong, and it can create more buffeting and/or turbulence around the helmet.

As for bikes... the VFR1200 is a pretty wicked ride, until you look at it again... it is bloody ugly, but it can get up and go. I prefer the old Z1000 over the new one, the new one looks like it's been flattened a bit with a press so it's shorter. Perhaps consider a CB1000R (except you can't buy them new). If you like the fazer though, I'd consider a small screen...

The new Tiger Sport has gone back to being more road orientated again, now that Triumph has the Explorer...

I always look for something different when buying a new bike. Rode a CB1000R a while ago, that Ohlins gear is something else!!!
Think I would go the ZED THOU way if it came to that, even over the FZ1.
But them being nakeds are off the list. At least with the Tiger Sport, you sit in the bike, it has a sports screen and, in my opinion, looks/sounds

Like I said in the begining, maybe I am just looking for an excuse.

PS: Thanks to the alert staff, this thread is now in it correct forum..

Wind blast has always been an issue for some riders, others don't seem to notice or mind it (I'm in the enjoy it totally camp) - good to see you are sounding out some options, but it just boils down to an itch to buy yourself a new bike! Lucky man, you've got a good girl there who knows how you are!

Use this as the perfect excuse to go and test ride plenty of options!

Mmmmmm yeah options?...it used to be evey second year in July that I would walk into a bike shop and ,well, ride away on something different that what I rode there on.
Kept the Honda longer than two years, it was that good...exceptional for two-up riding loaded with gear.

Apparently most Tiger riders are long distance riders. Know a couple over here and they love them - and rack up the miles - in comfort.

I guess I can sit in either camp. I loved the high screen on my BMW Paris Dakar (airhead 1000 version) ... it was the first faired bike I ever owned .. it's how I learnt to appreciate the value of a good screen.

My 1250 Bandit has what we used to call a "bikini" fairing ... and I know some people increase the size of the screen to cut down wind draft ... I don't notice it ... it's not as bad as trying to get 100miles an hour from a 650 Meridan Triumph with 12-inch ape-hangers. (Yeah, I am old)

I put a fly screen on my naked Bandit (a clear version of the one in pix below - bolts straight on to later model naked Bandits) I'm not sure how it affects the wind - I tend to think it affects it bugger all ... it certainly catches flies ... I put it there because I like the aesthetics more than the practicality - so I'm not disappointed ...

See, that to me, looks so wrong. It may well do the job but, I said earlier, we buy naked bikes for a reason.
And that reason is for the sensation the eliments throw at you whilst riding..well, for me anyway.
Under ''normal'' riding conditions, the FZ8 is absolutely fine, the purpose built tiny fly screen works a treat...

Truth is we are so spoiled for choice these days we all want a variety in our garages. However most of us being not well endowed in the financial sense can only afford one at a time. Go and have fun testing as many as you can and maybe you'll find one you want to take home to meet the Missus...

Im don't notice it anymore riding a naked bike. Used to affect me quite a lot..

Back protector helps me a lot just supports my riding position.

Have a few of them if you want to try riding with one for a while Mark?

But new bike would be a lot more exciting.

I'm not sure the flyscreen on my naked Bandit actually does affect the wind ... I didnt really notice a change whern I put it on ..

Fark, talk about storage, you could even include the kitchen sink on that one.
