freaking kidding; 7k for the 400? They have to be worth 1/2 value of the 500

Nowdays the 400 seems to be just as rare as the 500, in NZ anyway and apart from the extra bit of oomph everything else is the same.

I had a Katana 750, they were largely the same as the 11, but I'm in no illusion that the 11 creates the $$

That was a limited production run by UK importer. Hardly representative of an std NZ new 500.

Without a doubt, if I had one I wouldn't swap it for 1/2 doz 400s. But if someone came along with a decent Spondon 500 I'd swap 1/2 doz Skoals for it. You know, if I had 7.

Don't think it makes much difference Dave... most of the Jap import 500s are 400s from the factory, changed by the dealer to 500s (to avoid taxation). Old shit is old shit no matter which way you look at it, buy on condition.

Even rarer 400 is the Honda NS400R Vee 3 , 2 stroke... Another bike on my "wish I had never sold list"
    Pete

90% of all Harleys built are still on the road... The other 10% made it back home...
Ducati... Makeing riders into mechaincs since 1964...

The RG400 was a Japan spec model build to meet the cc/license limits you can not just fit 500 barrels to a 400 to increase the size.
Japans cc limits have given us great bikes like the VFR400,RVF400,CBR, FZR,ZXR,GSX-R etc.

plenty of people did, but 500 barrels aren't common so a mute point. They go out to 470 ok.
