If you want 40 year old technology, then why not buy a 40 year old bike that's been restored?
Hey, why should I buy a 40 year old bike with all its technology when I can buy a brand new one with the same technology??
And "outperformed by a 20 year old 2 stroke 250 that has seen better days" - for how many km - 20? - 20,000? - maybe
You sir are one of those 'other riders' - you know, the ones that want a Harley-Davidson. (as opposed to the ones that already have one)

sorry dude but what a load of crap, a few year ago myself and a couple of mates went on a trip up north, one mate needed a money machine so we found one in blenheim, in front of the machine was a large raised garden and there was room on one side for two bikes so i pulled round to the other side and parked my bike, note we were all on sports tourers and it was raining so i had my driz-a-bone over my leathers, there happened to be a gentleman at the cash machine as my mates came in from one side and i came in from the other side, the gentleman hurredly finished his transaction and stuffed his money in his pocket, he then turned towards me and looked at me, then looked over his shoulder at my two mates and promptly turned to walk past them then around on to the road around the raised garden to his car which was parked in front of my bike, he preferred to walk past two smaller guys than past the big guy with a bushy beard and you could smell the fear. really shocked me and it highlighted a few incedents that had happened to me before. i have never belonged to a gang tho i have socialized with a few, i have never had to demand respect from anyone but because of the Image of a gang i was painted with that brush.
having said that i have met some really good guys associated with gangs and i also know some right royal bastards, the same can be said for all walks of life

I think I'll stick to Japanese sports bikes. At least they go around corners properly and put out a decent amount of power for their engine size!

My 2c Why patches? A bit of history in this fine book written by an outsider who spent some time inside the 1% circus of Aussie motorcycle clubs not dissimilar to Kiwi clubs, in fact one of the first of the Aussies was formed by two Kiwi brothers, and an insight to disassociation laws (attempts to remove patches).

    http://www.amazon.com/The-Brotherhoo.../dp/1742371221

Iv'e always stepped around motorcycle clubs other than "owner" clubs that similarly the knitting circle rules get too complex and so prefer to ride solo or with a bunch of like minded folk who stick to one rule that is " There shalt be no rules" and i'm in it just for the ride.
Lots of really good people associated with biker clubs, and also a lot that are not so desirable to know unless you have debts to collect.

As for the near miss, seen it happen by many different types of motorists crossing yellows understand the frustration, even been nabbed myself, you can add "wankers" to all motorists then not just a couple of patched up riders agree really is not best practice.
"If you ever need anything please don’t hesitate to ask someone else first.”

Anyhoo don't forget to add to calendar 19th May, 27th July, and 31 August.
World whisky day, International whisky day, and Scotch whisky day.
