    problems with my FXR150

i have a 99 fxr, and im having problems with my electrics. the lcd screen flickers between showing the right info, eg 53 kmh, 7000 revs, 3rd gear, 1/2 empty tank , to everything being highlighted, 88.8 kmh , full revs full tank 8th gear etc. Also, the electric starter doesn't work. It still runs, but is just really annoying, especially if i stall on the street, and have to try kick it over while the cars pile up behind me. Can anyone help me, got similar problems? Thanks

That sounds like it would really suck...

    *can't use a kick start*

Have you taken it in to a bike shop to get it checked out? Have you checked your fuses? Have you checked the wiring to make sure nothing is dangling where it shouldn't be?

Good luck fixing it A lot of the guys (n gals) on here know what they are on about (just might not be what your on about lol).
I'm not a complete idiot... some pieces are missing

WHATS THE STANDING VOLTAGE ? SHOULD BE 12/13 VOLT , WHEN YOU GET IT STARTED IT SHOULD GO TO ABOUT 14 VOLT AT 2000 RPM

As Winja said, sounds like your battery is fucked... either it needs charging or you need a new one...

HEY!!!!!!! IMPOSTOR!!!!!!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH WINJA?!?!?!?!?!
yup, like Winja said, check the battery terminals and the condition of the batter. Loose wires around the dash too, but since you say about the starter and horn not being too good, the battery would be the first thing to check. Might just need replacing. Shouldn't cost too much, and they do need replacing every few years

ha, local bike shop, yeah. I live in Queenstown, so the closest thing to a bike shop is a tiny yamaha dealer about 40 minutes away in cromwell.

GENUINE YUASA BATTERY LASTS ABOUT 5 YEARS , AFTER MARKET IS ABOUT 2/3 YEARS, SOUNDS LIKE THE BATTERY OR CHARGING SYSTEM . SO NO METER.
START THE BIKE , LET IT IDLE TURN ON THE LIGHT IT SHOULD GET BRIGHTER, LET IT IDLE HOLD THE HORN BUTTON , REV IT THE HORN SHOULD GET LOUDER AND SHARPER , IF THIS IS SO IT MAY JUST BE THE BATTERY , GO GET A METER
EVERY MAN AND LESBIAN SHOULD HAVE ONE
