    Which Gopro?

Im thinking of getting a Gopro so I can watch what I do wrong.

Ive seen an old Hero HD cheap on The Warehouse site, http://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/red/ca...ra?SKU=1671530

And the White 3 version for $339.

Im not after mega movie type quality, just so I can look at it later. Which of these two is better or should I look for one of the other versions?

I don't know much about them but borrowed a older Hero HD and it worked well.

If you can get a cheap second hand HD, I rate that as better value for money than a new Hero3. All sorts of problems with the H3!!

I have been using the hero 3 for filming close ups on the tracks and are having alsorts of problems with it, will not turn on, loses wifi connection to phone, some times does not fully charge up, and the camra settings are changing all by themselves. until they sort the problems out I would not recommend one, I think the problems are caused by the updated firmware.

I've got the original 1080 HD GP, from the dealers at $175, so how does the wharryhouse parallel import them for more?, nothing wrong with the original model.

Alot of the problems associated with GO Hero cameras is using the incorrect 'class' of SD cards. The original hero recommends class 4, using class 10 creates all sorts of agony (lost recordings), even though it should be better. Class 6 is required for continuous shot stills. Have no experience with Hero 2 & 3, but stick to the minimum class recommendations, and find a cheap source of SD cards, (the local big box stores will not be cheap enough).
NZSpokes, find your local GP Hero stockists and get a proper price for the original model.

If it's just for basic stuff, you can either just upload to youtube as is or you can edit. You can use the free GoPro Cineform software to do some basic editing and the free Movie Maker software with windows (if you have windows) to add some basic fancy schmancy things like a song in the background. Just be aware that if you use mainstream music, youtube will take your video down. There are a few sites to get 'free for non-commercial use' music like Jamendo

The problem with the newer 2 and 3 model gopros is that they record at such a high video quality that you can run into issues with computers not being able to even smoothly play back video. Which is related to the speed of the graphics card, hence why I asked.
Also, you need the class 10 SD cards, as the write speed on lower class cards isn't capable of writing certain video settings, resulting in choppy video or corrupt recordings.

Yeah that totally sux ay. You think you've got some good footage to shame your mates and it's unusable because of the fog. They run too hot inside the protective casing.
