I have H1 and H2 - the H2 does fog up annoyingly in some circumstances - particularly with the LCD back installed. Has better qual then the H1 overall.
Computer isn't that critical anymore - You can edit videos on You Tube if you don't mind waiting for it to crunch them.
A good quality class 4 card. A Dick Smith will only disappoint. DAMHIK.
The class is related to how fast the card can write data, no more. So specifying a class 4 most likely means 4 or greater, to avoid issues with not writing sufficient data from the camera. However, not all SD cards are created equal, a class 10 16GB card from one brand may not be of equal performance to another class 10 16GB card from another brand. Name brand isn't always a guarantee of performance either.
I run class 10 cards in my HD hero with no issues.
we may just go where no ones been
H1 is fine, H2 is much better in low light.
Both fog up but gopro do inserts to remove the moisture.
I want an H2 so I can use the wifi back and remote and preview it on the phone.
The H1 will use the remote but not do preview.
I usually use the battery backpac and record at 720p onto a 16Gb card. The batteries will last about 5hrs and the card is about full at the end.
Using Sandisk Extreme - works great.
Had to put a dual core processor in my pc so it could play the footage though
Smoke 'em if you have 'em
You run what you brung, and pray you brought enough
Kingston is recommended for hero 1, i use Transend 32GB class 4(cos i got them for $37 each and they worked) and record at 720 30 f/p/s and record 8.5 hours of riding time, with the battery continuously charged from a USB wired to my ride. 3 SD cards generally cover a SI tour.
You can get info from the Go pro site about which brands do and don't work before you spend your hard earned dollars.
Class 4 is recommended for my camera on their technical brochure, they know better than me and they have worked. I agree with the write speeds on full HD and the class speeds of the SD cards, but i have had no issues with my camera. If anything technical does not work for me as planned it is binned instantaneously. I love my Hero 1.
