Rubbish, I just went through the restricted car licence early February, brother just did it early March. We both passed no problem, couple of minor comments made.

    oh... we can drive though.

    Roll on harder tests!

Meh, simple answer might be that Auckland is where the new arrivals to the country sit their test. And that is the PC way to describe that point of view by the way...

Doesn't disprove the story ... you're in jaffaland ... merely that you are one of the 41% who did pass ..

I even mentioned to the testing officer while finishing the test I was OK with tougher tests, and he was amused and shocked, as he said they get enough complaints and grief with the current ones.

Not quite sure how bad you have to do to fail (not that I really wanted to find out either).

Parallel parking... the law is that you must back in with less than 7m between the front of your car and the rear of the one in front... 7m, it's a whole freaken park between you!

Hell, even I might be able to do that.

    It's not the test.

    It's the drivers.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

What you ment to say is its full of fuckn asians...

Sat all my tests out in Westgate. A trick they use to sting stupid drivers is to immediately take you into the carpark where the speed limit is 20. Most people will break this almost straight away, teminating the test and giving the test instructor a nice extended smoko while he waits for the next idiot.

Its done to a quota. Your ability to drive is irrelevant.

The NZTA gave the contract for driver licence testing to a monopoly private company.

This company have been caught out by the NZ Herald instructing testers to fail applicants to ensure they meet profit targets.

The NZTA are great at this. They give monopoly or virtual monopoly contracts to a wide range of companies, enabling them to print money. Driver Licence tetsing, re-vinning, imported vehicle inspections, personal plates etc etc etc.

And they all demand personal data, which the NZTA sell, to veda baycorp, vodaphone, debt collection and finance companies, etc etc making millions of dollars a year.

A 40% pass rate is right on the money for the contracted company to reach its profit targets.
