    Stolen 1987 GSR-R 1100 blue/white, Howick

    Hi all,
went outside this morning to find my bike had been stolen last night.
It was under a cover and chained to a post. They must have scoped it out because they cut the chain with boltcutters. Normally there would not be space to get it out, but my wife's car is at the mechanics and there has been more space.

It has been off the road for about 6 years, and the battery would have been too flat to hot wire it.
The # plate on it is 34TNZ. it has an ali plate welded on the frame near the tank on the left side. suspect it had an aftermarket steering damper that was latter removed and the plate welded on.

    VIN: 7A8GK0N1196101660
    Plate: 34TNZ
    Plate type: Standard
    Engine no: U703 106245
    Chassis: GU74A-101660

Any help in recovering it appreciated as it was not insured Adam 021426627

Gutted. TPFT insurance would cost sweet fuck all. Not sure why people don't use it!

Didn't another bike recently get stolen in Howick?

Mate that sucks, hope you get it back as it was before - or with a bit of luck they may have put a new battery in it

    highly average.

but this would serve well as an advertisement for herc-alloy chain, which cannot be bolt-cuttered.
i'll let you know if it turns up up norf...

Are you sure about that? Do you have contents cover? Most contents cover will include theft and fire cover for motor vehicles that are secured on or within the property. If it was within the property boundaries AND was chained up should see you right, as long as you have contents cover. Check with your insurer and make sure you report the theft to the cops and get a job/report number as the insurer will want that. It doesn't need to be warranted or rego'd either. Good luck

Political correctness: a doctrine which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd from the clean end.

^^ is this true? so if I'm storing a racebike in the garage locked up and secure it doesnt need its own insurance, it comes under house and contents? might have to ring up n check that lol..

wouldnt u have to put it on the list of items included n the contents?

Thanks for the info, will follow that up an let you all know how i get on.

Thanks to all for your support. As i mentioned the frame has a welded patch on the left side near the fuel tank where a steering damper was removed and the hole covered. It is possible the motor will end up in a mini sprint or the like. also the upper left front fairing has some repairs to it, from the outside looks perfect but you can see the repair lines on the inside.

Gutted because about 3 months ago just stripped all the steel brackets, de-rusted and repainted them.

Ok i looked at the policy with AMI Contents not covered

    a. The following are not household contents and are not covered by this policy:
    – property belonging to members of your family who are tertiary students living away from home
    – livestock or domestic pets
    – trees, plants or shrubs in the open air
    – motor vehicles or their spare parts and accessories
    – aircraft, aerial devices, or their spare parts and accessories
    – watercraft and accessories worth over $500 in total value

If anyone else's policy does cover it let us know (not that i have a bike to cover at the moment).

    18V cordless skillsaw $200
    100mm diamond blade $100

    Tungsten = Butter

But apparently there is some new fandandled skillsaw that just has 2 counter rotating blades that does it quicker.
