    Cool XT660 Rekluse auto clutch

Well I managed to put a WR450 Rekluse EXP insert into the XT660R clutch..
After checking fricton plate part numbers I found the WR450 & XT660 share the same plates..
So I couldn't see why a WR450 unit wouldn't fit the XT... Would heve been a $649 fuck up if it didn't...
forgot about clutch cover gasket... have to wait till I can try it...

    Nice one on the ingenuity

Those two photos maybe for this thread to show the unit fitting, but if not and the EXP unit is final assembly position, keep in mind the EXP unit shouldn't be outermost on the clutch pack, it should be encompassed by a clutch plate and fibre

yes I have to set it up yet... that was the try and see if it fits in the basket .. while my fingers were crossed...

wondering wheather I should put the weakest springs in as the XT is a slower reving motor than the WR...

Now it thinks it's a 660cc Postie bike...

I would say you will not only need to use the lightest springs, but may also have to increase the EXP wedge weights. The XT is a significantly heavier bike than the WR450. I found spring rates and wedge weights not such as issue if you are giving the bike death and riding hard, but when you are adventure riding and frequently riding slowly, doing river crossings, hill climbs, ticking along slowly taking in the sights; this is where incorrect setup is amplified and noticeable plus harder on your clutch pack.

Best of luck with the project mate

Got it running 2 day... it goes well with the med weight wedges & lightest springs "red"
set it up with very slight clutch drag at idle as rekluse recommend ,starts to drive just off idle with
full lock up a few 100 revs on.. no sign of sliping after lock up..
Will try it 2morrow on a few hills...

What's the verdict Pete? How does the Rekluse perform in the 660? Does it contribute to the ditch seeking characteristics of a video I just watched or is that just your normal riding style

the WR set up with the lightest springs seems to work great... But I will try the heavyer wedges..
ditch seeking... I like to think of it as pensioner avoidance technique..

    Hey Pete,

Where did you get the Rekluse clutch from, NZ or did you have to get it imported (I cant find any dealers listed on the www)?

White power sports in NZ.... the Rekluse web site will direct you to there web site
As dealers can not sell Rekluse products across boarders.....

Thanks, Whitepower sports are only a distributor but they put me in touch with a great NZ dealer so the clutch kit is now awaiting install.

One question, the kit comes with Red/Blue/Gold springs, which Rekluse call medium, heavy and superheavy. With the heavy wedges (not in the standard kit) should I use the Blue (heavy) springs? I've read posts which say you should use the medium springs... but I'm guessing that means the medium springs in the kit (ie the Blue ones....)???

Use the lightest springs... the clutch as it comes is set for a WR/YZF that are higher / faster reving...

build a clutch arm stop... takes the load off the clutch cable and make the adjustment / setting easyer...
