Tyre/slick selection?

Just woundering what tyre widths people have found work best on different size rims..

I have impulse 400 rims on the fxr and run 90/ 17 on the 2.5 inc front and 115/ 17 on the 3 inc rear and they have good shape
Ive just got a set of gsx250 rims for the zxr chassis and woundering what size slicks to run? who else runs these rims and what tyre sizes?

we have all seen those pinched over slicks, not a fan when you run near them near the edge..

Its pretty simple. The slicks are pretty much made for Aprilla RSW125's and Honda RS125's.
These bike's run, 2.5" front rims and 3.5" rear rims. That's what they are designed for. A little bit above or below this is quite fine.
You only see massively pinched slicks on really skinny rims. i.e FXR / CBR stock rims

I run 2.25" front 3" rear, works great and one would argue a little bit pinched is a good thing on a kart track, due to a greater lean angle being able to be achieved before running off the edge and a slower corner speed versus a larger track.

So on the gsx rims would a 90 / 17 be to flat on the 3inc front?
The rear seams fine for 120/ 17 being a 3.5 inc

Any one have or know of some 100 or 110 / 17slicks?

Will hopefully be with the new zxr setup at kaitoke next month

I Have a couple of new 'Medium Soft' 134 wide 17" Heidenau Super Motard Slicks if they would work for anyone.
Quite a sharp profile on them. (can send pic)

Priced to clear @ $230 each (RRP$355)
Free frieght through KB.

Do you know what rim size they are normally on?

Technically they are a 160/60-17 that is made for a 4,50" rim (Heidenau Teck book says also fit 3,75; 4,00; 5,00 rim)
But measuring them - they are only 134mm wide, so I can't sell them as a 160.
Would be happy for someone to fit one to a 3.50" rim to see how they looked, before deciding if they wanted to buy.

Could also be a good try for a 4" rim, as a lot of donor 250's, like ZXR's have.

My '89 framed GSXR250 runs 95/70 and 115/70 slicks. I think the rims are 2.5 / 3.0 widths? they seem ok (not pinched)

A little wide for the front, but put it on and see how it handles. Should be okay, maybe a little flat. Only one way to find out.

Rear is spot on.
