    Slow news day?

While I was looking for biking news, I found the following:

    "BIKER UNHURT IN ROAD CRASH

Drivers travelling on the A380 between Newton Abbot and Torquay were slightly delayed by an accident on Thursday.

A young rider on a blue Suzuki scooter was in collision with a silver Vauxhall Brava pick-up truck near the Penn Inn roundabout.

It accident happened at around 1.30pm. The motorcyclist was unhurt.

An ambulance stood by but neither rider nor driver needed hospital treatment.

A police spokesman said: "It is not clear in which direction they were travelling.

"There were no injuries and the motorcyclist requested his own vehicle recovery."

So nothing happened and no-one was hurt!

I'm reminded of the truly pointless headline in 'The Times' newspaper:

    "No-one hurt in small earthquake"

    I came across this story...

    25 September 2006
    BIKE CRASH LAD, 8, HURT

A BOY of eight was seriously hurt yesterday while riding on the petrol tank of his dad's motorbike.

He suffered a broken arm, a broken leg and back injuries after he was thrown in the air and against a tree in a head-on crash with another bike on wasteland.

His dad, 30, and the other biker, 24, also suffered suspected broken legs in the accident at Stanford-le-hope, Essex.

Brad Lane, from the East of England Ambulance Service, said: "We were told the boy was sitting on the fuel tank with his father behind him. He was wearing full motocross safety equipment."

I love the way it ends "He was wearing full motocross safety equipment", as if that makes sitting him on the fuel tank OK!

"Oh, it was OK to stick the cat in the microwave, as it was wearing a flea collar..."

    Or something like that...

I think it's nice to have them report good news for a change - too many good things are missed by the media as they search for sensationalism.

    Glad no-one was hurt.
