Post Is the crf230 too small for me?

Hey there everyone, I looked around on google for this topic but couldn't find anything so decided to register and ask my fellow kiwis. I'm going to pickup a crf230 on Thursday and have thought that it maybe be to small for me.. I weigh 115kgs (I'm fit tho) I was riding a crf250r a few weeks ago and that didn't have any problems pulling me around but I'm just wondering if the 230 will have any problems or if I go over jumps will it bottom out? :/

    Kindest Regards - Anakin

    yes, yes, and yes.

It is a bike best suited for smaller people or them that aren't going to push it hard.
When I ride the misses's bike it is alright until I start giving it welly then it starts to bottom out and I'm only 85kg.

    A good learning bike though.

Did you test ride one first? I would before buying one. They are kinda small. No matter what you get you will need suspension mods to handle your weight.

Is there a website where I'm able to buy suspension mods from? I was able to ride a crf250r the other weekend and that was fine to ride. I read the max weight on the 230 was 230 pounds and I'm 250 pounds, so will it be bottoming out just riding around normally?

There is some clips on youtube on mods people have done and I have seen the front forks changed but unsure about the rear.

Hey, thanks for the link -$1500 is too much for me, I'm only paying $800 for the bike itself. I'll have a look on Thursday when I get the bike and see how I goes but if it's too small then I'll just sell it and get a crf250r

Yeah I thought that to at the time.
Just more to let you know it is possible.

See how it goes, I have known some to do some weird things to their shocks like put washers in the top of the shocks to stiffen the spring up.

Anakin-the only two things the CRF230 and CRF250r share are the CRF and the Honda badge. They are a totally different bike.
They are a fantastic learner bike because they are so darn easy to ride, the power is flat as a pancake and they are small and light.
