    Biker-friendly cafes in Auckland?

Of a friday (monthly.. or so) a few of us get together for a Monthly Coffee Run of Doom (MCROD).

Normally we end up at starbucks at Mission bay - because we can sit outside and perve at our loverly machinery (and stuff ).

However, parking is a bit limited and the waterfront ride is fraught with danger (of getting a ticket).

So.. does anyone know of any good destinations in Auckland... doesnt really matter where in Auckland... just need to be able to furnish us with the life giving amber fluid (and I dont mean beer).

Also, if anyone can suggest a decent "wet" route or two around auckland.. dont want anyone coming a cropper ... ever.

Don't know if it's still open but my favourite destination in Auckland was always Shed 6 in the old ACC Depot - down Nelson St, turn left into Victoria ST, left again at the first driveway and immediately left to go up the ramp to the parking at Shed 6. Bit expensive, but the place is often full of bikes on display and there's lots of motorbike books on the tables. Marked parking for Shed 6 patrons bikes, the rest of the area is Wilsons or something pay parking.

Another is Kings Garden Centre, it's on Orakei Rd just on the southern side of the Railway line. Lots of parking, and on a fine day you can go out side to eat.

Then, if you don't mind a ride out of town, there's the Woodturners cafe about a kilometer along SH2 just after it turns off to head towards Ngatea. Or the fish and chips at Kaiaua - and you can go there through Clevedon and down the coast road.

Last time we tried Shed 6 it was booked for a private function.

Usually its about 10pm by the time we get there, so it would have to be some kinda open late place (we leave at 7pm - so maybe 9:30 depending on if there are any non sports bikes with us :P)

I'm thinking we might have to divert to a wild bean cafe - I'm guessing we might be too wet to want to sit around for an hour or so..

Ah, I wasn't sure if you were a group of evening riders looking for a late night expresso or a group of retired riders who would be carving their way to their favourite bistro during the day.

Sorry, don't know Auckland well enough to recommend a suitable late night coffee house. There's the York St cafe - think it's the other half of Shed 6 - in York Street, off Khyber Pass opposite the Cock and Bull pub. May have trouble with parking your bikes though, but it is a motobike themed cafe/restaurant.

Otherwise it's a ride down the southern motorway to the service stops at Papkura or Bombay interchange.

    yep, thanks for that...

Shed 5 it is.. and its not open in the evenings it appears.

There's a cafe on K'rd which is supposedly bike themed/friendly too.. must figure out which one it is and go for a visit (since I work in upper queen st)

In Auckland doesn't the queue for the mens toilet end up being a meat raffle anyway, or is that just a Wellington thing?

The Catalina Café in Hobsonville is easy to get to, has lots of parking and the coffee is good.
