    South Taranaki camp grounds?

About the 12 May I am off on a 4/5 day trip to sth Taranaki on my scooter to follow up on some family history. First day, I'm going down to Okato and planning on staying around there at a campground, with cabins somewhere local. Will be there one night, then travelling through the back roads to Hawera for two nights. From there I travel down through Hurleyville to Wanganui. A night there, and then a run back over the Para's to Te A.

Has anyone stayed at the Hawera campground cabins? or know of a camp site near Okato?

You won't find much in Okato I don't think... But there's an excellent campground right on the beach just down the road in Oakura. They have cabins available.

Thanks, but I might just press on from Okato and go through to Hawera. I sussed the campsite at Oakura but they are $70 for a bare cabin. Hawera- $30 per night.

Thanks, I did a sweep of Awakino using google but couldn't pick up any signs etc. Heading down to NP tomorrow on the scooter so just deciding whether to carry some extra. It's only 109 from Piopio to Urenui so I will have heaps. I'll take a container anyway, as I'll be returning from Hawera via the lost highway on Wednesday.
