    Number plate colours

Are there any rules/regulations that need to be adhered to for MX in regards to plate colours? I know in AMA red plates are for points leaders, anything similar here which you cant run?
Only racing club level, not at National Level.

Also, do you just pick your own number, or is it assigned to you through the club?

MNZ do have rules regarding the colours of the background & number. They are not enforced on club days though it for Nationals.
I'm not up on the colouring though as my kids are mini's so only know those.
When you get your MNZ licence you can request your bike number or leave them to allocate one. Your choice isn't always available though for various reasons.
If you're only riding club days then really you can select any number you want & run it. I know many who's bikes have different numbers to that given to them by MNZ.

L rider is correct there are certain colours for the numbers and backgrounds , you can apply for a national number when getting your MNZ license . But as usual most just pick there own number and run that.
The red plate started in the MX GP's as it shows the current points leader up to that round , just makes it easier for spectators to follow the current points leader.

the number plate backgrounds have not been enforced for a number of years, infact, for ages, so dont bother, (in nz red plate white number is the MX1 class, but about half of them did not run it this year)

the list is in the rule book,

you get allocated a number but you can choose it, it stays with you until you do not renew your licience, the NZ champs sets the numbers under about 50, then its first in first serve,

Just fitted some custom graffix and numbers to my 300 got them outta England on E-Bay 85 pounds delivered, top quality and fit. There's so much choice with lots of replica GP teams etc.
Took only 2 weeks from point of sale.

I have to second this, I also just ot a complete graphics kit (ktm Dungey redbull kit) for UK 90 pounds delivered. Worked out to be about $170 nz. This included my race number and name printed. Although I try to support local products, this just cant be matched here. Just need to get past the waiting 2 weeks part. I believe you will pay close to this in NZ for numer boards only.
