You can't argue their place in history for sure.
Just to clear it up, as the LAMS list is fucking useless and shows fuck all info, so every Dick, fag and Norman thinks his bike is LAMS approved, only the 1WG was an FZR400, the rest, like the 3TJ were FZR400R, or RR
But I'd take that Katana any day, they're way cooler (even though the 3TJ will eat it)
You're not wrong. You could easily ride any of the FZR400s on your L/R and never get caught out on it. I'd be surprised if the rego even said FZR400RR. More likely then as not it just says "FZR400"
I always thought they'd print out LAMS on the regos for LAMS approved bikes. Still surprised they decided not too and leave enforcement completely up in the air. It really is a bit of a crapshoot.
Ducattilover is right too, everyone just looks at the list and goes "Hyobag 650? Sweet i've got one LAMS APPROVED IT IS!" Seems like half the people selling 400s think their bikes are LAMS simply cuz they're a 400. Fair few stealerships get LAMS wrong too, whether accidentally or on purpose though I'm still nots ure
And the reason that Katana is for a reasonable price, is because Red Baron are fuckwits and they've had the bike for like 2 years now. They've had it forever. It's taken them that long to realize nobody is going to pay the $5,000 they originally had it listed for.
Yeah, just go for it, the cops seem to have no idea what is and isn't on the list.
I got pulled over on the DR about a month ago, the cop (young guy) questioned me for about 10 minutes because he wouldn't believe me it was on the list, then mentioned a book that he can check and when I challenged him to check it he gave up, breath tested me, and let me on my way.
Jokes on him, it has an exhaust making it not LAMS compliant. lol

Edit: I'd love to own a katana I think they one of the sexiest bikes ever made.
your insurance assessor will probably know better though
Education not Legislation
It'll do quite well I reckon, and look awesome. I've got a mate with a 250 model and I've considered offering him some dosh for it, but I dunno if I can put up with that many revs anymore, the 400 would be ideal for me.
Nicer to ride on the road over a reasonable distance than a full on 400 sport bike.
They can't know better than the hopeless list can they? If they do, the list will have to be changed.
I think he's referring to my statement that the cop enforcing these LAMS restriction rules doesn't really know what's on the list. I would assume the insurance companies would know exactly what conforms and you wouldn't be able to sneak modifications (like the exhaust on my DR) past them.
