    This had to be a WTF moment for said policeman

    Not a good place or time to be doing 236kmh !

    Probably wasnt even in a sixth gear yet...

    and lol on Mr Grant said "if police caught the rider he would lose his licence instantly" i dont think rider was too worried about his licence if he had one at all...

    nah he musta been dead with the throttle stuck on, speed kills you know, if over 100 is likely fatal, 200+ he had no chance, he was only still on the road cos its so wide and straight

    Last time there was one of these locally the cops at least had a guess at the make and colour of the bike so we could all speculate who it was. And no it wasn't me.

    Actually the "populated community" comment isn't too bad. Out here in the rural rump some of the communities have been pretty much depopulated.

    For the benefit of non-locals, judging from the news item the location was the 'Normanby Straight" which has numerous side roads and driveways, and includes entrances to the Hawera Racecourse and Hawera Aerodrome. Not a wise place to give a vehicle a quick blast such as this at 2.00pm. Had to be brave, and at least slightly crazy.
