Possible quick way to sit full licence?

It's also shit for people who are disqualified from driving for 12 months and one day .. they too have to go through it all again .. because after 12 months your licence is expiredd .. gone .. they have to suck it up too - no matter how many years they've been riding .... a good reason NOT to lose your licence - and exactly why judges diqualify people for 12 months and one day ..

If you get caught with a learners on a big bike it will cost you demerit points .. and may eventually lead to a suspension period ... then you're really screwed ..

But my advice is suck it up and do it .. and once you start see it right thrugh otherwise in a couple of years you will be in the same position ...

i just got my excemption in the post, im sitting my full licence in 10 days. looks like 15 years experience amounts to something with nz transport, they had a much more positive attitude than you.

You cannot apply to sit your licence, untill your disqualification ends I always thought. I also understood it was two years.

Has this changed, or did I just have it wrong like normal?

i was never disqualified, but if i kept getting caught on my non lams approved bike i would be eventually. i just rang nz transport told them i got my first licence overseas in 1998 and and was a bit gutted i had to start from scratch all over again, as the learner-restricted phase is really to get experience up and i already have 15 years, and i sent them a letter from the licence athourity in europe stating the date of my first licence. they were good enough to reply saying i can sit my full licence and if i pass no worries, if i dont i have to do the waiting period.which is very fair.

hi i am a nz resident but held a learner licence overseas from 1998-2000. i let it lapse and never did get full licence overseas. i have now resat my learners and passed.
i have years of biking experience on big bikes, and now find i have to wait 2 years till i can ride my bike which is not lams approved. i have sent in my details for a excemption but was pretty much told at best i may get to sit my restricted a little quicker,this still leaves me with 18 months before im legal on my bike. can anyone advise possible ways i can speed up process,as you all know your self its extremely hard not to ride your favourite toy. i may even be willing to travel overseas to sit a exam if i have too,anything so i can just get out there again. thanks in advance for any info put forward.

Might be easier to go back to your origin country and sit your full there? Then transfer your licence to NZ?

Or got to Raro for a holiday and get a foreign licence for $20 which can be converted too. You can immediately book in for a full test here and skip all the bollocks. I did it last week. Had a learners for 6 years and didnt fancy wasting time and money on the restricted, so a holiday it was.

Yea seems people are getting confused because you used to be able to just swap you Raro one for a NZ full, no test required. Now they actually make you take the full test right?

I'm seriously considering a little getaway myself.
