    ZXR Fuel Tap Modding.

    Harrow

Just alittle tip for all those ZXR250 or any other vacum feed carb'd bike.

I have spend a crapload of money on my bike getting it running, fair enough I dont mind, but The stupidest most annoying thing was causing the most problem, the fuel tap - seems a simple fix? nah it aint well wasnt until I had a brain storm.

So your ZXR is constantly flooding / hydrolocking due to fuel getting everyfecken where? well if you do have this problem and dont want to spend a crapload on fixing it then try this:

    1) Remove the fuel tap from the tank (make sure its leveraged so that the fuel wont piss out)
    2) Take the 5 screws off the back of the fuel tap.
    3) REMOVE CAREFULLY, MAKE FUCKEN SURE YOU DONT RIP THE PLASTIC DIAPHRAMS, ELSE YOUR FUCKED YOUR ASS GOOD.
    4) now you should have 2 pieces, the bit with the tap on the front and the bit with a plasticly diaphram, put the tap on front somewhere where you wont loose it.
    5) now the plasticly diaphramy bit, there is a metal and plastic bit, remove the plastic carefully from the metal not to tear the second diaphram else yes your fucked again.
    6) Now you have a metal bit and the 2 diaphrams, and a spring in the metal bit
    7) Find a spring the samish size and strength and push the two springs together, reverse the above proccess and volia.

Now it _should_ idle better - I am yet to take it out for a gun so I dont know what its like upto should be fine I took it to 12k rpm which is the point of torque IIRC and it was fine so it would be fine further up since it cant really take in much more fuel after that point.

I have spent hours and hours with this problem, and it never dawned on me such a simple fix, oh well - I did buy a new (used) tap off takanni MC (Henrys a legend) wreckers, it had the same problem but I used the spring from that so It wasnt a waste of money and the tap was in much better condition internally compared to my older one! anyways have fun.

    zed loves it

(BTW - if this mod improved things, odds are your float valves are leaking )

Not in all cases, because the floats on the ZXR 250 at foremost shit anyway .

I checked mine and they are fine (seem), but when the tank spews preasured (weighted) fuel into your fuel lines its going to cause trouble no matter what.

No I cant speeelz so stuffit

if you're little mod doesn't work then try fitting an inline fuel tap between the existing tap and the carbs-acts as a secret security switch too.
