The item was not done from "another source" it was from an interview with Red himself.

Red seems to know everyone but when the claims are checked they turn out to be untrue. He claims to be related to people who don't know him. He also makes other statements that have caused more than one offended party to contact the magazine. There will be a retraction printed in the next issue in relation to one of these claims.

All of which is a pity because evidently he does do good work on bikes.

Military types get touchy about people who claim experience they don't have and Red was in danger of a mention in despatches on the appropriate website.

"Hacker's" defence of his friend was laudable but seemingly misplaced.

I can still read my Cycle World with some confidence that normal journalistic standards prevail.
Now my question is "what drove you on this crusade?" I read shit in magazines all the time that don't quite ring true but I'd never go to the extent you've gone to disprove it. What's up?

    Hi Everyone,
Im Chris off motogp-werks.I usually never post anything on forums due to all the crap people talk about on forums but i was called this morning to say something,So
After i left the defence force (during some off that time i used my mums last name Mcmurrary) I got a job with a new company starting called Onix sercurity the company did things that were a little shady so i had a offer with BoB jones in aussie doing close protection work (call him ) at the same time i decided to go to Australian security institute where i brushed up on my skills i left there with a diploma (call them).I lived with a guy by the name off Tony Farrow he was a former 4 commando and was a gladiator called commando.Due to Mr Jones owning the rights to the show we did alot off work there and where ever Bob wanted us.We did mostly CP work.Alot went on in the Mid 90's so it was pretty busy. But it all cam to a end when we were looking after a band and the plane we were on board had to turn around ,that the last straw my last baby sitting job.
I meet John B. during my time in christchurch 1991-92 lot of time on the skirts off mt cook,i got frost bite and had a month of and spent most off that time with john,I expressed what i realy wanted to do and he wrote me a letter,I went to the american motorcycle institute lucky with that letter and my background i got a discounted education.just had to pay for my tools and sundrie items.During my 97-98 time in daytona beach i worked at razzles night club running sercurity team and did some baby sitting at a local casino to pay my board through college.I finished my college with honours and topped my classes.By luck i got a job half way through the season with vance and hines ducati for gobert but that year was his last as he did not turn up to the last race and instead raced a ROC bike overseas.
Couple off years later i got a position with one off the last teams using a 500 bike for Gp which later turned to motogp but two years later it folded due to sponsorship.I meet Moriwaki years before and i went to suzuka to help him with his motogp project it barely got off the ground and then was cancelled.
I lived in japan and got a job offer in 2004 with Yoshimura in the R&d dept in california ,i accepted and did my training under the famous 'Wananabe'.During my time i filled all the gaps in with my skill level from building pipes to swingarms.I got my good friend a job there also Matt hepper as the head of marketing and later he ran yoshimura in N.Z for mladin.I got a job offer by kawasaki to be a crew chief and engine builder for steve rapp,i acceptted and the following year won the daytona 200 and the next year again with chaz davies/steve rapp.
During that time i made extra money designing the FMF apex muffler range that you can buy now.The recession hit end off 2008 and honda fired all the crew with the race team and a month later kawasaki did.I started my shop in 2009 with my first build for a 24ct gold hayabusa for a prince in dubia ,my first job and was over 125,000us .Since then i have built over 45 full custom bikes and 7-8 movie bikes.
Ive won every big time motorcycle show now including shows in germany/uk and the big daddy (grand national roadster show) where i h ave won it three times.
I was on the biker build off for jessie james vrs orange county choppers where i built the bodywork on his bike (he didn't) ...But best way to see what shit im up to is on my face book :

I have alot on my plate lucky i don't have to do the isle off mann this year due to accepting the job as tech director off the pike peak challenge for the motorcycles.
Our shop has two dyno's a superflow and dynojet, our laser chassis machine is a G.M.D .Also in the shop there is a machine shop and showroom.I have been in 35 magazines and 6-7 just this year ,you can check the duck i did for Tom in march issue off streetfighter or superstreet bike (cover ,my 7 cover for that mag).
My skills are everything from making alloy tanks to frames to mapping superbikes with motec including breaking into ECU's and reflashing them.
I own 80 bikes currently 1.5million everything rare from mladin superbikes, ducati superbike,x1r yoshiomura kevin's motard ,scott russell superbike, factory zx9 superbike and so on ...
I try my best as a kiwi to help all kiwis, mostly for free.Any other problem or help please don't hesitate to call me.

Since you ask, it started with the military claim. It didn't require much effort I only asked two questions on a private military group and the answers started coming in. It then turned out I wasn't the only one asking.

It's a shame, as I said, the bikes are good and the story didn't really require the unnecessary embellishment.

What bullshit, what's your full name and date off birth I too have some favors I can call on ... Since I now have your phone number ,couldn't you grow some and call me I would have handed over all the info.
    You have my number.
Did you call tank Todd ? Or papakura
The unit you talk about only had 25-30 people back in 1987-1992 Williams was the co for couple before returning to the battery .No one I know including a couple off seals I know (on my Facebook ) talk about anything especially on a forum even over a beer with them .
Thank god I have forgotten more about motorcycles than you will ever know .
Good luck living in New Plymouth

The real shame is many kiwis like myself and Chris have to leave to make any money and further our businesses in the industry we obviously love.

New Zealand may have a great lifestyle but that can also be purchased elsewhere and there are lots of other beautiful places in this world

Its time we applauded Kiwis who leave to better themselves and maybe..just maybe....they will come back some day to offer the benefit of what they have learned for those that remained in NZ
