    Classic CB1100

Purely out of curiosity...what would this bike be worth today? If it were not in "Mint" condition anymore. Anyone here have any clue?

Depends on what you mean by not mint?
A CB1100RB with low miles original fairing and tank/seat etc 10-15g possible on a good day. Ex race bike with out a known history half that.
A CB900f with the 1100R tank/seat etc not much but a good post classic racer.

Have seen them advertised a few times from about 15-20 grand.

Haven't seen one sell for that price though.

My three dream bikes that I intend to eventually have in my collection are the WW Katana, the CB1100R and the Eddie Lawson Replica.

I'm a third of the way there.

Suspect the asking price is way off, in the end it's only worth what some one's prepared to pay.
If it's an ex Honda Britain HRC CB1100r raced by Joey D that's a whole different matter.

My own personal feeling is a historic ex race bike from a well known rider is worth more than a stock road bike. You can make a road bike mint by throwing money at it, but you can't buy race history, especially with a limited edition "superbike" like the CB1100R which aren't exactly falling outta the trees. I don't know what it's going for but realistically what does $15k buy you these days that isn't gonna be worth 2/3'rds of that in 3 years time? If you like cool old bikes it's a no-brainer to me, why would you buy a retro fake? Why not enjoy the real thing?

But it's something you either get or you don't. Just like an old Mustang makes no sense in comparison to a new one, they don't stop, go, handle or comfort you like a new one.....but that 40 year old classic experience still puts a smile on your face.

Yehar...! While "sanitised" maybe fast, it's always fun to make the original squeal (or the original make you squeal!!).

Reintroduced models.....Same Same but different. Never quite have the aura I reckon.

I know it's probably sacrilege to say so but I actually prefer the R version.

Those brakes on the S look so.......agricultural.

There was a super tidy R on Trademe about 6 years ago with a buy now of 8 grand.

I'm kicking myself now that I didn't just hit the buy now and worry about the consequences later.
