I will tell a similar story ( in english). I was driving the ambulance along a country road, came up behind a chap doing about 70kph. I was responding to a 'code 1' call which meant the use of all warning devices etc. This guy had his head rocking to the beat of his headphones. The air horns, siren, flashing lights etc were blasting out. For what seemed like an eternity, he dawdled along. Finally he looked into his rear view mirror. Poor buggar darn near ran into the water table.

I think the general consensus, from what I've read here, really confirms that NZ'ers tend to be caught up in their own little world when on the road and many don't give two hoots about other people/vehicles they have to share the road with. How many motorists sit smugly "in control" of their vehicle yet oblivious to what's happening around them.? I suspect too though that there are just as many appalling motorists who like to con-troll others on the road by being determined that "you ain't going to pass me, while I sit here on the open road at 85kph", or "why shouldn't I sit up your date to intimidate you out of the way because your 100kph on the open road is holding me up from my far superior need to go faster" etc.

The concept of multi lanes in NZ simply gives rude arrogant road users more lanes in which to drive with bad manners, rather than any form of streamlined travel/speed system. It probably harks back to the not too distant past when we had comparatively few cars on the road (for the amount of tarseal we have) and people could pretty much drive / ride how they liked because we simply didn't have huge congestion issues and a high volume of traffic to deal with. The lack of ability to drive to the conditions in bad weather only confirms the Kiwi struggle to "drive to the conditions" - whatever they may be. And that includes people who, in ideal road and weather conditions, still seem to be afraid of doing 100kph on the open road!

Oh, the other thing that gets me going is truck drivers who insist on trying to overtake another truck in the passing lanes and end up just creating a moving barrier that no one is able to get past - but don't get me started on that.

Playing the devil here, that's largely due to the cars. While once upon a time cars would just accelerate past at decent rates & the truck could then follow tail end, nowadays most just slowly dawdle past (usually barley faster than the truck anyhow) leaving no room for the truck or really any other car to get past so the truck kinda has to just go for it or forever be stuck behind a slower truck.

If PIGs would stop scamming the passing lanes & cars would pass at decent rates, the roads could flow much better & trucks wouldn't have to block the passing lanes.

You forgot the ones that will never overtake but sit up the arse of the car in front so you now need to overtake two cars and so on until there is a line of cars.

By not pulling over you are frustrating drivers and make them do dangerous overtakes.. Think above yourself.. Hate dicks like you

Bet you are the type of dude to honk and pull the fingers at frustrated bikers overtaking you on yellow lines.. Arrogant motrists.. Making NZ roads dangerous since ages ago..

And dredging up a thread from over a year ago and still not understanding it - along with the abusive and gutter language makes me wonder who has the problem.

I suggest you go to the post by Bogan #57 and maybe you might see the light

Don't be too hard on them Murray, probably took him a year to read it, ah the joys of the internet.
