    Suzuki VL250

    Hi all,

Decided to not get a sport bike for my first bike as i didnt feel comfy on them. After much research i see that the Suzuki VL250 is a rather well liked bike and no one has had anything bad to say about it. So i looked all over NZ and there is one locally that is well priced compared to the others from all over. Opinions on this bike? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-595756001.htm

    Thanks in advance

Dont know anything about them myself, but it looks nice. Good luck.

Of all the bikes available around that price on trade me at the moment for a learner, this in my opinion would be the best value for money right now.

Pity its not at your end of the country.
As for the suzie. you will have heaps of fun on that and will learn a lot having that fun. I currently ride something similar.
I think it would be a good buy at the price.

You can't go wrong with the purchase of that little Susie , I had one to start me off on bikes again and loved it,
Light easy to handle and peppy as hell , the comfort is also a bonus , You can load it up and go anywhere, great motor. Good price.

I normally ride a sports / tourer but had a bike shop loaner VL250 for a day when my bike was in the w/shop.

Surprising amount of poke for a 250.

The Yamaha has a longer history than the suzi, plus there are heaps of aftermarket bits available for them, the model has been around since the 80's and its not unheard of to see 200k on the clock with no troubles. They are both much the same realy, and will surprise you , check out the consumables for each, and service periods , thats where your on going money wil be spent, whichever is cheaper to maintain should be the one you choose.

Hey there mate. I don't understand why you don't look for something a bit bigger than a 250 now that you can ride LAMS. That being said, the Suzie looks good and it's a decent price. If you're 6ft + then I'd recommend the GV250 Aquilla as its a bigger bike. Otherwise, the Suzie is just as good as any other 250 cruiser.

Thanks for all the help everyone, i rather like the Yamaha V Star 250. However according to the info its a 2009 and is registered as a 2009 but after comparing them it looks more like a 2005. The speedo is on the tank whereas the 2009 models do not have a speedo on the tank nor does the 08/10/11 etc models. Here is a link http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=600498242 There i a 2005 model which looks exactly like the one im interested in http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=573887197
