Does anyone know where to find sand tracks and or dunes close or in the wellington region?? If not anywhere in the lower north island??

Dunes are all likely to be protected for environmental reasons. Damn good show too.

I'd be interested to know too. Maaaany moons ago I used to go to Hokio Beach just south of Levin. I stopped when a group started planting the dunes with some sort of native sea grass. I rode further along from their project but still had the cops called on me. When they came and asked me to leave I did, still did not stop the local greenie iwi from giving me the bash soon as the cops left. So be careful. Surely with all the coast line NZ has there must be somewhere legal to ride, anyone?

Hooning up and down on beaches is generally OK, unless there are lots of people around, particularly Anxious Mothers with children at foot.

But riding over any dune munts them and is Yet Another Practice that gives bikers a bad name because of the damage it does.

I think if you were to ride around on the dunes on the Poutu peninsular DOC would roast your balls.

Dude, check out where it is on the map. Not real close to you. And you have your caps lock on.

I seriously hate all those tree hugging greenies who get their knickers in a twist and call the cops at the slightest sign of anyone having fun on anything with 2 wheels and an engine. It's pathetic.
