Aluminium ID plate?

Hi all, Im busy rebuilding a 86 gsx400e while stripping down the frame on the neck next to the stamped VIN number there is this Australian ID plate with a bunch of numbers and model info, im wandering if A: I really need this plate and B: if I can get another one made up? its in pretty bad nick after having to remove it from the frame for a full powder coat job and someone has sprayed crappy paints and bent it a bit before I got it, Id prefer if I can get a identical plate with the correct numbers stamped into it.

If anyone can tell me the whats what with these that would be awesome

Ill Get a photo of it when I get back home, not that its all that readable, half the time I revert to the reverse side to see the stamped letters :P

Do Not LOSE that plate.
Yes it's an import, but that plate is what it's registered history is made up of here in NZ. Getting another one made? well if it's that bad perhaps you could but if you're re registering it, it;ll get a new one anyhow.

Oh nice, that saves me looking to repair it and rivet the plate back on, its been off the road in dry storage for 19 years, but the dust didnt play the best with its paint :P runs liek a dream first pop on a fresh battery and fuel though!

Sorry , I should have said, if you are revinning and after 19 years I'm sure you are, then you will automatically get a new one if the old one is too manky.
Either way don't bin the plate until you've got a nice new one in it's place or at the very least a shiny new rego plate.

the plate only says that the bike complies with the Aussy transport rules, it carries the date of manufacture and repeats the factory vin number that is hard stamped on the steering head.
The steer head number are what you need to vin the bike, has it ever been registered in NZ.

I wont bin it, at most ill clean off the old paint with terps( its over spray ) and document it, for all indended purposes i want this to be a used show piece

Yeah it has, it still has the old black plate, which i intend to see if i can re-use

type the old plate number in to CarJam and see if its still in the system?

I doubt if you will be allowed to use your black plate when you re-register,you will be forced to buy the fugly white one.What you can do is apply for a personalised plate with the same number as your black plate then you can fit your black plate.A tad expensive, but black plates look nice on classic bikes.
