    Rego exemption question

Is there a time limit ie on the back of the form it says "if the vehicle is subject to continuous licensing and is unlicensed for more than 12 months its rego will be cancelled".Are they saying thats the limit on an exemption or if an exemption wasnt applied for they would cancel the rego after 12 months?

The VF rego has been on hold for nearly 2 yrs.

Reg expires if you dont put it on hold within a year.

At the end of the exemption period they just send you a normal renewal, at which time you just apply for an exemption again.

Do it for twelve. You can relicense it at any time regardless.

Don't let the exemption run out though or they will still sting you for rego fees until you relicence or exempt it again... If after 12mths you havent done anything they will cancel your registration and set the dogs on you for a years rego fees... (which reminds me my exemption runs out in a couple of days)

And remember if your registration/licencing expires, according to TPTB, your car is no longer safe and must be revinned.
Obviously having no WoF for 15 years is okay though, because safety is related to registration and ACC levies and not a safety check carried out by professionals.
There is no money grabbing happening at all and these rules are perfectly logical.

I had a 500 on hold and the exemption ran out (and of course i forgot about it for 6 weeks) put it on hold again online for 12 months, sold it a week later. Went and got a warrant and 3 months reg , no back paying of reg and got the full 3 months ! Think you can let it run over for up to 3 months and not cop any back rego !

    Just saying !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

So what's the shortest period you can stick a rego on hold for? Three months?

This is true ! Simple rule is exempt it for a minimum of 6 months but dont re reg it till at least 3 months is up , then ya shouldn't get caught out (but then you may as i did, get away with running over the 6 months by one or two, before you put it on hold again ! So if your exemption runs out 2 months ago, put it back on exemption before you go get your warrant and re reg it or you MAY have to back pay the 2 odd months you ran over your exemption !

    Confused ? Know i am !

Even though you put it on hold and have not used the vehicle?
I don't understand how they can legally charge you for something you're exempt from (by being on hold)

No money grabbing though, they're taking care of us.
