Niall McKenzie has been rebuilding an Elsie in the last few issues of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine and it's a beauty
So in the grand old tradition of indoor rebuilds and with Crasher leading the charge with the RM(update please) I thought it was about time to get this old girl back into rideable condition.

I will pay monies for your old copies. Apparently they are doing a job on a MKI TDM, too. Piqued my interest.

    Sorry, as you were.

I have to pick and choose the mags I buy these days so that means mainly now I only buy the ones with two stroke articles in them. The Elsie rebuild issues don't feature anything on the TDM unfortunately but I will look back through some old stacks to see if there is something earlier.

Ha not to awesome when you get a close look, but the cranks rebuilt and the top-end is sorted, but that's the easy bit.
The tank is leaking and the plastics are toast so that and a re-spray are next.It won't be a full recon more of a tidy up and get out and ride it build.

Oy tink it only started in the latest or pre latest issue. The editor was getting info from the TDM forum. I'm interested in anything with no valves, too. I can't get the mag round here but would be happy to pay postage & half the mag price. Eh, eh, eh... go on..? You can scan the mucky pictures for keepsakes..

Think I may end up running an RM465/500 tank for the factory RN400 look. Forks are looking good I reckon. Poss the last set of brand new Fox Factory Forx wipers in captivity. Clawing my way to completion!

He'll get something else to build. I've never seen a photo of Pete's living room without a build on the go.

On that note. Did you ever get that SR case cover made Pete?

Cheers mate! But I need to get it sorted soon...as the Johnny Olds VMX race is on next year and I don't want to miss this one! It's only held every two years...and I've missed the last two!

Hahahaha. That's part of the problem/hold up mate. Got the 1984 KX125 on the go too. It was my first ever bike I raced...so lots of fond memories of it. Making head way with the SR covers. Looks like Daryl Lane (used to be our top mechanic) may be able to sort them out. He now works for Peter Jackson in their machine room.
All going well I'll end up with 85-90% of an SR250 as well. So will build the KX125 as close to a Jeff Ward SR125 rep as I poss can so as to have the whole family as it were. Here's the start of the 125...and a pic of Wardy's SR I plan to make it look like!Click image for larger version.
