I'd recommend the same black round one that your bike tyre shop does.

Sell the bike if you can't afford the consumables?

Yep, for a bike tyre for that bike. You can get cheaper but also nastier. Compared to car tyres or condoms they are expensive, no argument there, but current NZ prices that's about as cheap as you will get and stay out of hospital.

Ignore their idle banter Jason. I suggest a Michelin road two. Good road holding, lasts a long time, good in the wet and a rear should fall within your budget. Call Don at PITLANE in Darfield or check out Cycletreads website-they do free shipping.

Shinko Apex 010 you are talking about Drew - great budget conscious tyre, or the Shinko Verge 011 for a more mileage capable version. These are a very underrated tyre for the grip they achieve.

Or a Bridgestone BT023 - cheap, for a premium tyre, with good mileage and exceptional wet grip. Even better Bridgestone T30, more dry grip, but expect to pay a little more.

No, if you want to come first, don't be running an OEM Bridgstone on the rear! It was the limitiing factor on every run. That and the bike that beat me, was an actual race bike, R1.

T30 for sure, but failing that, a PR3 would be my next choice, or the 2. My wife runs PR3's on her 650 bandit.
