How to get dirt bike fit? ideas?

Surely there must be some kind of exercising I can do to make this unfit fatty a little more dirt bike fit? Google shows nothing, not that I could find anyway. Any kind of exercise in particular that could help?

Seat time. Get out to a track and try do 20 minutes of riding on your limit. Its hard to strengthen forearms to combat arm pump. If you want to get fitter through the week to help then just general fitness like exercycle, cross trainer and weight training.

A track? It's hard to get seat time as I only really have every 2nd weekend free. Hmm anything I could do that doesn't involve machinery I don't have? Don't wanna join the gym either lol.

Press ups, pull ups and squats will work your main muscle groups you will need for riding. And for fitness, just running or cycling will be fine.

Set up a program where you alternate different muscle groups to different days. So pull ups (and if you get weights curls) monday. Then push ups and dips Tuesday. Rest wednesday then squats on Thursday. Start the cycle again. If you want to be fit fast then run every day. If not then a couple of times a week.

I found a wobble-board useful. It's just a 1ft square piece of ply with a lump in the middle, you can stand on it watching TV, surprising how much effort it takes to keep it level. Works the gastric nemius (calf) muscles and obviously tunes up the balance.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon

Great advice thanks guys. Crikey I haven't run for fitness for easily 2 years now, will be hard to get back into it! Will have to Google what dips are! Sounds familiar.... I usually wait till night to go running so less ppl see how rubbish i am lol

    They have some programmes here

    http://www.racerxvt.com/

Currently doing the weekend warrior 1 training programme.
Cardio and a bit of strength training.

You might as well join up, and then cancel, as the first month is free, but you can get a good idea of how the program works, all the excercises and strecthing routines, and base it off that going forward.

I try for running 3-4 times a week, two strength training sessions, and one day on the bike a week which is around an hour or so at the moto-x track.
