    Ducati 2013 Multistrada 1200 S

    Anyone ridden this bike?

I am planning a long road trip in the States, and was thinking of getting an R 1200 GS. Took my G 650 GS in for a service, and was lent a 659 Monster. That's a LAMs approved bike? Bugger me! What a blast!

Anyway, the Multistrada was recommended as a better alternative to the GS. Anyone tried one? Any feedback?

This motorcycle is simply too goddamn fast for the normal road unless you're ready to go straight down the centerline with your nuts on fire and a silent scream in your throat.

If you are not already a member, go have a look at www.advrider.com

There are stacks of threads on tripping around merka, and a bunch of threads on the multi as well.

Hi there, I have only test ridden an '12 MS and it was great.
However a buddy of mine bought a Pikes Peak '12 MS while we were touring the states last year...he and his wife and the factory luggage, they absolutely love it!!
Left it there and have just returned from another 5 weeks on it again right up to Alaska...no problems and a super bike by all accounts.
And the '13 should have any minor, say ecm type, issues sorted as the '12 was the first of that new line.
If you would like to talk to him, just pm me and I will get you in contact with my buddy ok?
I'm no gynaecologist, however I would be happy to take a look......................

    Thank you both!

I am leaning towards the Ducati. Anyone have any recommendations or experience with dealers in Florida. Remote chance, I know. Will ask over at Adventure Riders as well.

    Thanks again.

If you think that monster's a blast you're in for a shock, the Multistrudle is getting up towards 1000hp/ton. It's a serious piece of motorcycle, capable of putting a lot of litre sprotsbikes to shame, respect that and you'll get on fine.

150hp and 220 kg. Factory figures so that won't be at the wheel.

I make that about 680hp/ton, sans rider.

I think your abacus is stuck Ocean. Remind me not to get you to do any engineering for me!

Indeed? I had it at 170Kg.

Makes the KTM look a little more attractive...

1190 Adventure and Multistrada are practically neck and neck on paper power versus weight.

Other than the fact that the KTM has longer and less expensive service schedule, the REAL difference is the KTM can actually be ridden off road. The Multi, no so easily.

Not so much of a problem.

The off road thing isn't much of a deal breaker, (how many "ADV" bikes that size ever take to the firebreaks?) but I wondered about the physical size of the Ducati. I wouldn't even be looking if the 1125 had been just a smidgeon bigger, difficult to see either the Duc or the KTM motors matching it.

    I rode one.
It was brand new and before we'd gone 30km the tail light fell off.
A hoot on a sealed road, but not an all rounder like a GS or an 1190.
