GPS alarm when riding alone

Came across this in an article in a farming mag.

Very interesting, works on the telecom or vodaphone network to start with, if out of range then auto connects through the iridium sat network.

In the mag it had a sample of the info it transmits when triggered.

This is direct from the sample;

Advisory speed= 100 kph
Event = ignition off
Location = 3.42 kms W of Omanawa, New Zealand
McLaren road falls , Western bay of plenty
Last Contact= 14.04;54 21/March/2013.

This info box is overlaid on a Google map with a pointer to the location on the ground.

Full details on the site, I really like the wrist band idea so you dont have to get to your bike or reach into a pocket or bag to call the cavalry.

I couldn't quite understand the technical blurb that came with it but it looks like a pretty good lil unit.

I often tend to think we over gadgetise the world however thought the idea of the new gadget that automatically sends rescue calls/gps locations to the closest police station activated when the car is in an accident is a brilliant idea. Saves time for someone having to wait to get found.

Looks like it would require a monitoring contract + monthly fee. The device would put you in contact with the Central Station (i.e. Monitoring provider) via the two-way voice capability (intercom) then they would call the police and provide all the relevant details like location etc.

We have a GSM/Central Station monitored alarm system with 2-way voice that provides police/ambo/fire/panic and this is how it works. If you already have a monitoring contract in place then you could see if your monitoring provider also supports this device and get it added in.

It was not one of those cursed introduced species of tree sir. No it was a damn fine grown in N Zed Ponga what saved me
Fortunatly no cones were involved
