Boyer vs Tri Spark

Has anyone had any experience with Tri Spark electronic ignitions ?

Looking at throwing the old points system out of my new (old) T150 to the curb after stomping it to death and have been looking at the Tri Spark system

Boyer would work out a bit cheaper by about a hundred odd notes, but then i have to replace the 12v coils with 6v ones so gonna end up not so much less ! Have a mate with a second hand Boyer but do i really want to go there even if i save a hundy ?

The other thing that's got me is there are no Tri Spark (Ozzy company) in NZ, sooooo at 360 AUD it will end up at around 420 440 NZD with freight. What friggin duty and tax am i gonna end up copping on top of this ?

I had a Boyer in my BMW racer for a while, problem with them is the advance keeps on advancing and if the voltage drops they retard. Binned it and fitted a programmable Ignitech.
I still have a Boyer in the Commando but have a Pazon altair ready to go in at some point.
The Norton guys liked the Trispark for a while, but now seem to prefer the Pazon.

I look at the dollars too, but after a while you forget that when the bike runs well.....
I fitted a Trispark regulator and a 3 phase alternator...pricy but nice.

Look on youtube there are plenty of vids of the tri-spark in action,the thing I like about the tri-spark over the boyer and pazon is it is a single fire unit as opposed to a wasted spark of the boyer or pazon in other words it is built like most modern ign systems.

That's something i heard also, seems crazy if Trispark have it sorted why they haven't, know it wouldn't be much wear really, but it's still twice the work the coils, plugs and leads etc have to do !

The Norton (that's on the back burner again after the bike i was selling to do the resto, has been swapped for this one lol) has a Boyer in it, but am leaning toward trying the Tri Spark for the Trident, the question will be what if any tax am i gonna cop (though as Volitaire said the money aint everything, getting them points out is a priority lol)

I do not think you would be taxed,it is under the value threshold ? and if there is no distributor locally importing one is the only option.
I had thought about a Tri Spark for the 750 Fastback but do not like that everything is under the cover with heat and vibration so will go Pazon Altair.
It sounds like (Nortons anyway) the Tri Spark needs the correct coils etc to avoid break down of the unit if Internut posts are anything to go by.

They have a unit in the works for the Moto Guzzi Eldorado so might be a customer when that happens but the old 'if it ain't broke why fix it' is looming in the background.

Talked to a man on saturday at the swapmeet in fielding who has just fitted the tri-spark to his trident that he has owned for over 20 years,he said the bike runs smoother starts easier and he should have done it age's ago.
