Last official word here from Ryan was posts 11 and 12.
My understanding is the aim was/is still for 17th/18th/19th January 2014 but until land holders etc (what ever etc is) have been tied down and the DB1k site gets updated I guess you take your chances.

I guess you lot would like me to organise another Christchurch to Fairlie route for the Friday? Anyone got any new route ideas? contemplating either some of Banks Peninsula or up the Rangitata River to Erewon Station. Pretty hard to leave Orari Gorge station out it's such a good trail

And you need to ask ?

I assume we are in Alex on the sat night 18th...

Thumbs up Dusty Butt 2014 Newbie

Heading down from Auckland and also keen to know the location and dates etc.
Will hopefully be teaming up with others to ride/trailer down to Wgtn, then on down to CHCH to join the crew heading across to the start.

Gossip on the street has it that for 2014 the dates have been changed to 1/2 March. True?

Racing Daves post has prompted me to go visit a man.
Wait, be patient, hoping all will be revealed online within approximately a week to a week and a bit, there are changes, likely no longer January, is all I can pass on without taking too much of the wind from the sails of the officialdom.

Well thats me F#%ked then! have already swapped, begged, borrowed and stole other peoples leave to get 18 / 19 /20 January off as leave at my work is by ballot. If it is going to be in 01/02 March I most likely won't be attending

It is a bit of a worry seeing people jumping the gun but everyone was advised several times to wait until the website was updated as nothing was confirmed and 'behind the scenes' consultation was still in progress....
The hope/intention was for the usual week but 'behind the scenes' consultation was still in progress and eventually it seems the usual week is a no go.

Edit, yeah, what cynna posted while I typed slow.

I hear ya TA but not everyone has the luxury of taking annual leave at the last minute whenever they feel like it, many of us (which I have had to do) have to submit leave plans which in my case has to be done months in advance to accomodate minimum staff numbers etc. One of our group is actually flying over especially from the mines in Western Australia to participate so couldn't dilly delly about. Myself and my group of riding mates will still be doing our own version of the Dusty Butt on the 18/19 January and as such will negotiate our own land accesses. (if others are thinking of doing the same plse don't f%@K it for everyone else by not getting prior approval from landowners for accessing their land).
