There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
Hi mate, long time ... it would be nice to ride with you. I'll try to see if can get closer to your 2-3 days, can possible put 2 before and 1-2 after and may be try to catch up somewhere on the way and then leave somewhere on the way back.
Bloody hell I have put my hand in my pocket. I must be doing it, then!
to late in the season for me, so have fun, & if needed bed, workshop etc... "Roxburgh"

Hey fellow dirt lovers,
I have just listed my Honda XR650R adventure bike on trademe...
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...129402&ed=true
If you or one of your mates are interested in doing the Dusty Butt but don't have a suitable bike look no further.
The bike is in Christchurch and if you are in the North Island I would be happy to store it for you until then (if you don't want it before hand).
Bike is all set up, serviced and ready to go
I used this bike on last years Dusty Butt and have done four other prior Dusty Butts on a previous XR which is near prefect for the event
Happy to discuss a buy back option if you are overseas

Few locals meeting at the Speights Ale House, Tower Junction (Christchurch) at 7:30pm tonight to talk DB1k stratigy/experiences/just in case anyone is interested in poping down.

I've never done the DB1K, as it always clashed with the Britton Safari rides so moving to March should be awesome.
Just had the screws removed from the knee and going hard at the gym, so I think by then I'll be ready. I'd be keen to ride there and back from Welly.
Like some of the others, I dont think I will have much extra time other than get there and back.
I'll check family commitments before I register...does anyone know what the total registrations are so far???

...back in the saddle, and getting a little!
I'm in!!
I have also booked the Britton Ride in the Far North...but Festy needs shoulder surgery so he's rooted, other mates have gone soft and my knee would probably benefit from a bit more time healing...so I'll likely not attend and save myself for the DB1K
I'll need to read up a bit more on the event, as I understand we are more self sufficient ie food and accomodation...compared to the sulubrious accomodation and organised food that Britton runs.
So Book ferry
Find accomodation
Carry food/perhaps fuel
Don't break down.

get down to CHCH some one will let you camp at their place,
Fairlie see if there are any spare beds at top10 or in one of motels as some pull out for different reasons etc....
Alex the same or you can drag your arse to Roxburgh & camp here for the night
then back to Farlie for the night etc...
