I use those 1 liter plastic bottles that I buy my meths in
They wouldnt store that whole range of flamable liquids in those inside shops if they wern't safe, they've got those locking kind of caps and they squash flat to carry when empty.
They probably cant stop you from filling them at a gas station either.

my thoughts as exactly...they stores, meths, turps, acetone, kero...everything. I have two wolfman bottle holders that attach to bags, and will nicely fit these bottles. which gives 2 extra litres...might not be enough, but maybe get one bladder as well...
...back in the saddle, and getting a little!

    .

I've done all those, plus think I've nearly done every mod there is (not external filter yet) :-D

I've always used the motorex oil, sure its ff expensive, but I know that it has the correct additives to manage the bearings in the engine. From memory, the main bearings have a silver coating or something like that which need some extra care ie wrong oil can 'potentially' damage them...who really knows. Personally, I always run the very best oil I can...the oil has to do so much, in these powerful motors so I ain't skimping. FWIW...My business partner, spent 15 years in the professional race industry and was in the engineering team that built the bikes for Wayne Rainey and for winning world champs. (he's great to ask real world questions, as they did it all). He said he went to Castrol Development in England to help source/design an oil that would prevent their modified 500cc twins from snapping the teeth of the main gear. The actually solved a mechanical loading issue, by using at oil that provided a tiny amount of shock loading - no one beleived that the oil could prevent the teeth from failing, but it did. - so I say...use the right stuff

re tank bolts...yup, done that but also made this simple bar hoop to take more load off the rear and transfer it to the rear pegs, so can hang more shit off the rear without worry...plus is allows simple saddle bags to hang off to.

I bought a ride on mower fuel tank and mounted it to the rear carrier of my Ktm 525. I also tee'ed into the main tank and I could run the rear tank then switch over to the front. Worked bloody well and cost me aroun 30 40 ish bux to set up

Note: I made the long section last year on my 530 with a 17 liter tank!

Didn't have to tap into my reserves...but, I was prepaired

I reckon you need to decide up front and ride accordingly - I used 19l on my 450 on that section. But I was having lots fun !

The last 3 dustys, UMOPOM has only run out of gas once (just before Cromwell). Did all the challenges on a 690 with standard tank.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Very nice. Was that the one for sale at Veitches? Looks too nice to throw down the Awakino though.
